Bac Giang and FPT Build Ambitions for a Semiconductor Urban Area

The visit and working session at FPT Da Nang opened up numerous opportunities for cooperation between FPT Corporation and Bac Giang Province in promoting digital transformation, advancing high-quality education, and realizing the vision of developing a semiconductor urban area as proposed by local leaders.

On April 12, a delegation from the Bac Giang Provincial People’s Committee, led by Chairman Nguyen Viet Oanh, paid a visit and worked at FPT Da Nang. The trip aimed to explore FPT’s ecosystem in Da Nang City and the model of the technology urban area that FPT is developing, thereby studying the potential for collaboration and discussing the vision of establishing a similar urban area in Bac Giang in the near future.

The delegation visited the comprehensive ecosystem operated by FPT in Da Nang, which covers core areas such as technology, telecommunications, and education. These are essential foundations contributing to the formation of a modern technology urban area where technology and infrastructure are developed synchronously, creating an intelligent, convenient, and sustainable living and working environment.

At FPT Complex, representatives of FPT and the Bac Giang Provincial People’s Committee held a working session to discuss several important cooperation initiatives. Mr. Le Quang Tien – Member of FPT Founding Council and Chairman of FPT City – presented an overview of the Group’s key projects at FPT Da Nang Technology Urban Area. He highlighted the experiences FPT has gained in Da Nang, expressing hope for the development of a similar model in Bac Giang. The FPT City Da Nang Technology Urban Area is a fully integrated ecosystem comprising an inter-level education system (FPT Schools), FPT University Campus, FPT Software, FPT Telecom, and Data Center facilities. With thousands of technology engineers, FPT Software plays a leading role in the central region’s IT sector, making a significant contribution to the city’s budget. Meanwhile, the FPT Plaza apartment project has provided stable housing for FPT experts, engineers, and employees.

During the session, leaders of local departments and sectors also exchanged views with FPT to promote cooperation, outlining Bac Giang’s key goals in digital transformation and high-quality education. Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Mai Son, expressed his desire to establish sustainable collaboration with FPT Corporation. He emphasized that Bac Giang hopes FPT will effectively leverage its experience to design and develop a semiconductor urban area right in the province. This would become a new high-tech hub capable of attracting investment, gathering highly skilled experts and engineers, and serving as a driving force for sustainable socio-economic development in the province.

In his closing remarks, Bac Giang Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Viet Oanh expressed his admiration for the comprehensive ecosystem that FPT has built in Da Nang, where technology, human resources, and infrastructure are harmoniously invested. He highly appreciated FPT’s strategy and affirmed that Bac Giang will create favorable conditions and stand ready to accompany FPT in realizing the cooperation plans in the coming time.

The delegation also took time to visit Hope School – an institution nurturing children who lost their parents during the Covid-19 pandemic. The delegation was deeply moved by the students’ resilience, spending time conversing with them and offering meaningful books as gifts to encourage their learning journey and personal growth.

In the afternoon, the Bac Giang delegation visited FPT’s High-Tech and Semiconductor Research and Development (R&D) Center, located at Da Nang Software Park No. 2. Here, FPT representatives presented several strategic technological solutions in key areas such as digital government, healthcare, education, and smart cities—core drivers for comprehensive digital transformation. FPT’s R&D Center plays a vital role in fostering innovation and building a connected startup ecosystem that gathers top experts to collaboratively research and develop technology products. Mr. Than Minh Ngoc – Chief Operating Officer (COO) of FPT IS, FPT Corporation – introduced “Silicon Bay,” an incubator for “Make in Vietnam” technology products currently being developed by FPT.

The visit and working session at FPT Da Nang marked a promising beginning for potential cooperation between Bac Giang Province and FPT Corporation, laying a solid foundation and reaffirming the commitment of both parties to future strategic collaborations.
