Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang Welcomes Yamato’s Plan to Establish an AI Laboratory with FPT

Hanoi, July 6, 2026 – General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, met with Mr. Nagao Yutaka, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yamato Holdings (Japan). During the meeting, the Minister welcomed Yamato’s plan to partner with FPT in establishing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory in Vietnam.

According to Minister Luong Tam Quang, Vietnam is accelerating the development of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and high-tech industries, while creating favorable conditions for international enterprises to expand investment and cooperation in the country. Against this backdrop, the Minister highly appreciated Yamato’s initiative to collaborate with FPT in establishing the AI Laboratory.

The laboratory is expected to focus on research and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data in supply chain management and transportation coordination, while developing logistics solutions for high-tech industries, including the semiconductor sector. The Minister also noted that, with a population of approximately 100 million and one of the region’s fastest-growing e-commerce markets, Vietnam has significant potential for developing high-tech logistics and related services.

FPT and Yamato Holdings established their partnership in 2023. Under an agreement signed during the Vietnam–Japan Economic Forum, the two companies have worked together to accelerate digital transformation in the logistics sector by leveraging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, big data, automation, and the Internet of Things (IoT). They also agreed to jointly research and deploy solutions to improve the efficiency of Vietnam’s transportation system.

For his part, Mr. Nagao Yutaka said Yamato will continue to explore and implement cooperation projects in Vietnam to further strengthen economic and technological collaboration between Vietnam and Japan.
