FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh Receives the Order of the Rising Sun from the Government of Japan

Hanoi, July 10 – FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun by the Government of Japan in recognition of his outstanding contributions to strengthening Vietnam–Japan relations, particularly in information technology, digital transformation, human resource development, and cultural exchange.

Speaking at the ceremony, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki congratulated Chairman Truong Gia Binh and highlighted his enduring contributions to deepening bilateral cooperation over the past two decades. "I believe Chairman Truong Gia Binh's greatest achievement is his pioneering vision in investing in and expanding large-scale business operations in Japan, thereby building and establishing FPT's value."

According to Ambassador Ito Naoki, since the establishment of FPT Japan in Tokyo in 2005, under Chairman Truong Gia Binh's leadership, FPT has grown into one of Japan's largest foreign IT companies, operating 18 offices and engaging approximately 18,000 technology professionals in projects serving Japanese enterprises.

The Ambassador also emphasized FPT's role in helping Japanese companies modernize their IT systems, leverage data, and accelerate digital transformation across industries including retail, aviation, automotive, manufacturing, and IT services. In 2020, FPT became the first Vietnamese IT company to join the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), marking a significant milestone in business cooperation between the two countries.

In the semiconductor sector, Ambassador Ito commended Chairman Truong Gia Binh's efforts to promote strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Japan. One notable example is the partnership between FPT and Mishima Kosan to develop semiconductor talent, addressing the growing workforce demand in this strategic industry.

The Ambassador also recognized FPT's contributions to developing high-quality human resources for the Japanese market. In addition to integrating Japanese-language education into FPT University, FPT established the FPT Japan Academy in Tokyo, helping train thousands of Japanese-speaking professionals and connecting technology talent with Japanese businesses, thereby supporting Japan's efforts to address its IT workforce shortage.

Beyond economic and educational cooperation, Ambassador Ito highlighted Chairman Truong Gia Binh's contributions to people-to-people exchanges. He recalled the Chairman's visit to Japan following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami to encourage employees and partners while reaffirming FPT's commitment to maintaining business continuity. More recently, FPT donated 3 million yen to support victims of the Noto Peninsula earthquake. The Ambassador also praised FPT's various initiatives to promote Japanese culture in Vietnam as meaningful contributions to strengthening ties between the peoples of the two countries.

Ambassador Ito noted that during the Japanese Prime Minister's visit to Vietnam in May this year, leaders of both countries agreed to further expand cooperation in science and technology, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence (AI). He expressed confidence that the strong foundation built over many years by Chairman Truong Gia Binh and FPT will continue to play an important role in advancing the Vietnam–Japan strategic partnership in the years ahead.

Receiving the prestigious decoration, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh expressed his deep gratitude. "This distinguished honor is not mine alone. I believe it belongs to generations of FPT people, as well as our partners and friends in Japan who have worked alongside us to nurture friendship and cooperation for more than 20 years."

Chairman Truong Gia Binh also reflected on FPT's early journey toward globalization. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to enter international markets, it was the trust and support of Japanese partners that opened the first door for FPT's expansion abroad. "A single act of trust can change an entire life, an entire journey—not only for one person, but for an entire company."

From its very first project—lasting just two weeks and involving two Vietnamese engineers—FPT has steadily established its presence in Japan. Today, the company partners with approximately 500 leading Japanese enterprises in innovation, digital transformation, and the adoption of emerging technologies.

Affirming that Japan has always held a special place in FPT's development journey, Chairman Truong Gia Binh expressed confidence that the two countries will continue to unlock new opportunities for cooperation in strategic technologies such as AI, semiconductors, and digital transformation. He emphasized that FPT will continue serving as a bridge to further strengthen Vietnam–Japan relations. "FPT is committed to remaining a small bridge within this great connection—a bridge built on affection and friendship; a bridge founded on our shared aspiration to move forward together; and a bridge powered by technology."
