Vietnam is emerging as a premier destination in the global semiconductor industry. Major players in the semiconductor ecosystem, including Nvidia, Intel, Samsung, Apple, Foxconn, Amkor, Synosys, and others, have selected Vietnam for investment across various activities ranging from research and development (R&D) to production and manufacturing. The Vietnamese government is exerting significant efforts to formulate policies and allocate resources aimed at positioning Vietnam as a prominent center in the global semiconductor industry. Moreover, amidst the rapid pace of digital transformation across businesses worldwide, there is a burgeoning demand for semiconductor chips across diverse industries and sectors.

Recognizing the potential for the semiconductor industry to offer numerous opportunities for Vietnamese digital businesses, particularly for members of VINASA, in areas such as design, testing, and international collaboration, VINASA has taken the initiative to establish the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Development Committee within the Association.

The establishment of this Committee aims to unite a consortium of experts, businesses, and partners to advance the semiconductor industry's growth in Vietnam through various initiatives. These activities include training programs for human resource development, dissemination of knowledge and experience, fostering connections and collaborations, and conducting R&D endeavors. The Committee seeks to cultivate a network of businesses and experts actively engaged in the global chip and semiconductor development ecosystem through these efforts. Additionally, the Committee will advocate for and facilitate connections with governments at all levels to create incentives for domestic and international investors, thereby fostering the promotion of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. The Chairman of the VINASA Founding Council and Chairman of FPT, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, will be directly involved in and oversee the activities of the Committee.

In addition to the focus on promoting the development of the semiconductor industry, at the VINASA 2024 strategic conference, the Association has also identified three other strategic directions for its activities and those of its member businesses in the upcoming period. These include: (1) Green digital transformation; (2) Innovation promotion by facilitating collaboration and resource consolidation to establish an Innovation Center; (3) Deployment of Digital Trust services to introduce new services aimed at assisting individuals, businesses, and organizations in identifying reliable service providers and solutions, thereby building trust among consumers.

VINASA perceives green transformation as the forthcoming wave poised to develop rapidly and exert a global impact, steering toward sustainable development. Green transformation represents a burgeoning market that technology businesses must proactively acknowledge and swiftly adapt to align with emerging trends. This entails not only facilitating green transformation within businesses but also providing consulting services to customers and partners.

To swiftly adapt to the wave of ESG transformation, VINASA will collaborate with other stakeholders to develop specific plans and guide activities aimed at assisting businesses in accessing standards and systems as well as implementing solutions in 2024. This collaborative effort will involve coordinating partnerships to integrate solution sets that facilitate green transformation, promoting the dual growth strategy of Green and Digital initiatives, and contributing to sustainable development.
