Nearly 100 top contestants competed in the final round of the Da Nang Code League 2024 programming competition, held at the CodeCation FPT Complex (FPT Software) in Da Nang. In addition to vying for a share of the 200 million VND prize pool, winners will have the opportunity to intern and work at FPT Software, a subsidiary of FPT Corporation - a leading technology service provider in Asia with a global presence across 30 countries.
The Da Nang Code League 2024, designed to mirror the standards of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), is often referred to as the "Olympics" for IT students. Participants use one of four programming languages—C, C++, Java, or Python 3—to tackle challenging problems set by an Expert Council. The competition tests technical skills, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure. The event is structured into three categories with escalating difficulty levels: Code Rookie for students, Code Warrior for technology students, and Code Master for programmers with fewer than five years of experience.
The Da Nang Code League 2024 has seen exceptional participation, featuring ICPC competition teams from major Vietnamese universities and candidates with notable achievements in national and international IT contests. Participants include high achievers from the Asia-Pacific ICPC, the International Informatics Olympiad, and intellectual competitions like Road to Olympia and Vietnam Super Intelligence. This year, the tournament has also welcomed a diverse range of young talents, including high school students and those from challenging backgrounds. Additionally, many contestants hail from outside Vietnam, including the US, Canada, South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore.
The Expert Council has highly praised the teams' problem-solving methods and speed from the elimination rounds to the finals. Notably, the winning teams in the final round stood out: "GG Man Utd" in the Code Master category, "Nếu of All Times" in the Code Warrior category, and "Gấu trúc dữ liệu Pandatastructure" in the Code Rookie category.
Team GG Man Utd won the Champion position in the most challenging level: Code Master.
The GG Man Utd team includes Chung Minh Nhat, who won First Prize in the Ho Chi Minh City AI application solution competition in 2020, and Le Duy Bach, a member of the Vietnam Super Intelligence team renowned as the Super Mutant of Mathematics. The runner-up team in the Code Master group features Tran Xuan Bach, who earned a Gold Medal at the International Informatics Olympiad (IOI 2022) and has been awarded the Labor Medal twice by the President.
To ensure fairness, the Organizing Committee uses an automated system to scan for and detect contest entries with identical or similar code segments. The entries are graded automatically with an online grading machine designed in line with ICPC standards, evaluating solutions based on both true-false and specific case scenarios. Furthermore, the entries are reviewed by an Expert Council that includes Ph. D.s, Masters, and lecturers from Polytechnic University, as well as global technology experts from FPT Software, each bringing over ten years of experience.
“Through Da Nang Code League 2024, FPT Software aims to provide opportunities and challenges for young individuals to showcase their passion and explore their potential in IT. This initiative aligns with our mission to foster happiness not just within our company but across the community,” said Le Hong Linh, Director of FPT Software Central. He also expressed gratitude to Danang University of Science and Technology and other universities and high schools nationwide for their support in organizing programming competitions over the past four years, helping to create valuable platforms for discovering and nurturing programming talent.
The Da Nang Code League 2024 has expanded its reach nationwide, attracting over 1,533 contestants from domestic and international backgrounds—a 31% increase from 2023. Among them is a 16-year-old high school student, the youngest participant this year. The competition allows contestants to engage with technology communities, tackle compelling programming challenges, and interact with experienced technology experts from FPT Software.
The Da Nang Code League is a vibrant platform for contestants to connect with the technology community and tackle engaging programming challenges.
During the contest, participants had the chance to tour and experience the working environment at one of FPT Software's most modern and eco-friendly CodeCation campuses. Following the finals, competing teams gathered at a networking party to share their experiences and celebrate with the winning team.
For FPT Software, 2024 is a landmark year, celebrating its 25th anniversary and reaching 1 billion USD in revenue from software export services. As it aims to become a global technology leader with $5 billion in revenue by 2030, the company is committed to nurturing young technology enthusiasts and strengthening Vietnam's IT community.
