DENSO and FPT Software Host Hackathon with 250 Million VND Prize Pool

The 2nd DENSO Factory Hacks competition is hosted by DENSO Vietnam, part of DENSO Corporation Japan, a global leader in automotive components, in collaboration with FPT Software, a top technology solutions and services provider. Building on last year's success, this hackathon invites young tech talents to dive into new challenges and experiences in manufacturing and smart factories, with a total prize pool of up to 250 million VND.

DENSO Factory Hacks aims to discover innovative solutions by leveraging core technologies such as Data, AI, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Internet of Things (IoT), and Cloud Computing. The goal is to optimize operational models within smart factories. Participants will have the chance to collaborate with top technology experts from FPT Software and DENSO, as well as gain practical experience in DENSO Vietnam's manufacturing facilities. The competition will be a significant professional platform for young tech talents and students specializing in IT, telecommunications, automation, and mechatronics.

To join the competition, candidates should have a basic understanding of or a strong interest in one of the following technology fields: Data Science, AI, or IoT. Teams can consist of up to 5 members and include participants of any age.

The DENSO Factory Hacks competition will run until November 29, 2024, featuring three rounds: CV Scanning Round, Elimination Round, and Final Round. Teams must register by September 17, 2024, and can submit and revise their ideas until September 24. The judges will review the submissions to select the top 10 teams for the Elimination Round.

In the Qualifying Round, the top 10 teams will receive 5 million VND each to develop their products and solutions. The selection will focus on technological innovation and the practical impact of their solutions on factory operations.

The five teams that make it to the Final Round will present their solutions directly to the jury. The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of 100 million VND.

With a mission to lead innovation and leverage technology to address social challenges, DENSO hopes the competition will uncover new tech application ideas and novel approaches that can be nurtured and implemented in DENSO factories in the future and also inspire creativity among engineers.

A representative from FPT Software noted that the competition is a valuable opportunity to discover and train top-notch engineers for the company.

In 2023, the DENSO Factory Hacks competition drew nearly 800 participants, including tech engineers and students from 32 universities and colleges across Vietnam. The top prize went to a team from Hanoi University of Science and Technology for their "Analog Data Digitization Solution." Their innovative idea was later developed and commercialized by FPT Software and DENSO. It is expected to be rolled out across all 75 production lines at DENSO factories starting February 2025.
