Forbes recognizes FPT's outstanding contributions to the fight against Covid-19

According to Forbes, as with many others around the world, Asia’s business leaders and companies have stepped up to join the effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. They are addressing the outbreak on several fronts, as denoted by this roundup of notable contributions from across the region. Some are donating out of their pockets or through their businesses; others are converting facilities to address the evolving crisis; while those in biotech are busy ramping up production for testing kits or working to create a much-needed vaccine.

According to the release, FPT partnered with Vietnam’s Ministry of Health and launched a 24/7 chatbot that could handle 5,000 Covid-19 related inquires per day. The Company has also granted free access to its AI-powered online learning platform VioEdu, allowing local students of all levels to educate themselves during school closures. So far, students from 15,000 schools in 63/63 provinces and cities have registered to participate in the system. More than 90 million questions have been practiced on the system. 

In addition, FPT donated its 2,000-room university dorm for quarantine purposes and VND 20 billion in medical equipment, such as ventilators and disinfectant supplies, nearly 600 health care packages (VND2 million/pack) to the front-line fighters in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many localities across the country.

At the same time, in order to help solve the common problems for the community and businesses, FPT gave small and medium-sized enterprises 3 months of free service of FPT Eagle Eyes, which detects and prevents malware in the network in real time, and increased bandwidth by 60% for internet users etc.

“For FPT, people are our most valuable assets and we are doing our best to help the government fight against Covid-19,” said FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh, “To the best of our ability, we wish to contribute to the protection of frontline doctors, healthcare staff and the community, minimizing the spread of COVID-19, and reducing the pressure on the Government and the City”,

Besides Asian companies, Asia’s wealthiest individuals have been honored. Chairman of Vingroup Pham Nhat Vuong is Vietnam's only representative to be named on Forbes' list. The Vietnamese billionaire’s Vingroup signed a licensing agreement with Dublin-based Medtronic to produce ventilators through two subsidiaries. Its automaker Vinfast and electronics arm Vinsmart are shifting production lines, which can reach a capacity of 10,000 ventilators per month. 

Until April 19, Forbes' list encompasses other outstanding Asian companies such as SK, Hyundai Motor (Korea), Fujifilm (Japan), or other famous figures namely Alibaba boss Jack Ma, Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka Shing, Huawei CEO and founder Ren Zhengfei, Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani etc.
