FPT.AI ranks first at AI contest in Japan

FPT.AI Comprehensive Artificial Intelligence Platform (FPT.AI) beat many competitors worldwide to win the highest honors (Rank # 1) in 03 categories of languages: English, Vietnamese and Korean at SHINRA2020-ML - a competition on the Natural Language Processing (NLP) model co-organized by Japan's RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project and Tohoku University.

SHINRA2020-ML contest is part of the 15th NTCIR Conference - a prestigious annual science event of Japan, attracting the participation of many universities, laboratories, and research institutes around the world, with the goal of building an open knowledge base with optimal artificial intelligence models to share with the technology community. Having been held annually in Japan since 1998, the NTCIR Conference focuses on gathering large test data sources for in-depth researches on computer science, while opening “playground” for research groups to exchange and discuss these experimental results, aiming to build a community of scientists doing studies on Artificial Intelligence.

In this year's competition, the participating teams had to classify 25 million articles in 30 different languages ​​into 219 categories identified on Wikipedia open Encyclopedia.

To achieve the leading position, FPT.AI possesses not only a highly accurate natural language processing model, but also sufficient computational resources (server systems and central processors) to complete the required tasks. Particularly focusing on AI - the core platform in the digital revolution, FPT has promoted application-oriented AI research for many years to bring technologies to each enterprise and organization. The contest attracted many teams from prestigious universities, companies, research institutes of Japan, Australia, India, Portugal, and Vietnam. One of the institutes attending the event was Studio Ousia - a well-known Japanese technology company famed for its "LUKE" model -  its natural language processing ability surpassing models from Google and Facebook.
