On May 14th, FPT and Vietnam Association of Digital Agriculture (VIDA) organized a webinar with the topic of "Give training on and optimize digital platforms for response and breakthroughs during and after the pandemic".
Covid-19 has severe impacts on the global economy. Global GDP growth is expected to fall to -2.3% in 2020.The severity of the novel coronavirus epidemic is likely to drag Vietnam's GDP growth down to -1.99% this year. In particular, the growth rate in agriculture decreased by 8% in the first quarter of this year.
According to a recent survey, the domestic agriculture industry is facing 5 challenges: Difficulties in exporting raw products and fresh agricultural products, especially in the Chinese market; E-commerce platform management; connection between domestic retail chains and suppliers; high inventory index; lack of transparency with authorities, units of production and end users.
According to Mr. Vo Chi Thanh - Former Deputy Director of Central Institute for Economic Management, the fact that the export growth is in the negative zone the most clearly reflects the impact. “The coronavirus could possibly spark a repeat of the Great Depression 1929-1930, especially when the financial debt is growing unprecedentedly fast,” added Mr. Thanh.
FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh said that the COVID-19 epidemic was Good opportunity for enterprises to restructure production, application of technology, especially digital technology.

In order to apply technologies for transformation in the "new normal" era, agricultural enterprises first need to develop digital sales channels, increase online working and meetings, improve automation with robot application and put investment in product traceability.
