FPT appoints new Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Vu Anh Tu - Deputy General Director of FPT Telecom is promoted to the role of FPT Chief Technology Officer from September 7^th, 2020. Meanwhile, Mr. Le Hong Viet – former CTO takes on the position of CEO of FPT Smart Cloud - the newest member company of the Corp.

This appointment and rotation is part of the "cadre planning and rotation" program in order to create a diverse experience in business fields, improve leadership and management capacity for senior leaders as well as strongly promote the core technologies of digital transformation.

Newly-appointed FPT CTO Vu Anh Tu is responsible for developing FPT's technology strategy and orientation; conducting new "made by FPT" product and service development projects to follow the Corp's long-term business strategy; developing technology policies and resources for the corporation and support the subsidiaries in production and business activities.

The newly-appointed CTO is one of the 4 highest level technology experts of FPT and called "Doctor of Cisco".

Mr. Vu Anh Tu, born in 1978, is one of the 4 highest level technology experts of FPT and called "Doctor of Cisco" when he achieved the top IT network security certifications such as CCIE and CISSP. In nearly 20 years of working for FPT, he has taken many important positions in the engineering and technology field, making contributions to the company's business development namely Deputy General Director of FPT Telecom in charge of technology and engineering (from 2016 to now), Chairman of FPT Telecom International under FPT Telecom (from March 2018 to now), FPT Telecom CTO (2012- 2016), Head of FPT Information Management Department (2011 - 2013), Director of FPT Telecom Network Operation Center (2008-2011), Deputy Director of Network Infrastructure Center under FPT IS (2005-2008) etc.

Joining FPT IS in 2001, Mr. Vu Anh Tu conducted many important telecommunications networks and security systems for government agencies and large banks in Vietnam, helping them digitize public services, banking services, such as the State Bank of Vietnam, Vietcombank, the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Taxation and the General Department of Customs. When working for FPT Telecom, he gained the important achievements in developing the new Made by FPT solutions and services such as FPT Television service (2008); IPTV decoder product. A series of FPT Telecom services reached millions of users. FPT Play, built by him as a startup in an enterprise, became the OTT video service with the largest number of users in Vietnam with 21 million ones. In order to improve customer experience, he and his team successfully developed Hi FPT app with millions of users.

FPT Telecom's landmark projects such as digital transformation or telecom network infrastructure transformation were joined by him as a key person. In 2013, FPT Telecom was Vietnam's first provider to offer television and Internet services through a fiber-optic network on a national scale. Currently, more than 8,000 FPT Telecom employees are performing sales operations and technical support entirely on the Mobile platform.

As the Chairman of FPT Telecom International - FTI, he helped the company get the growth of approximately 20% in the two years of 2018-2019, by accelerating the digitization, running Tier 3 data centers, and reorganizing the technical team to give the best support to business operations. With his leadership ability and outstanding achievements, he contributed to helping FPT Telecom receive the great awards such as Digital Transformation of the Year 2016 (IDC), Vietnam Data Center Services Provider of the Year 2019 (Frost & Sullivan).

Meanwhile, Mr. Le Hong Viet holds the position of CEO of FPT Smart Cloud. The Company, established on August 13th, focuses on Cloud Computing (Cloud) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) - the core technologies to promote digital transformation, helping organizations and enterprises optimize their operations and improve their performance. It aims at the market leader in the next 5 years by focusing on building a solid technology foundation, developing a diversified product ecosystem, and expanding global connectivity.

During his 5 years as FPT CTO (2015-2020), he made many major contributions to opening up new technology development directions, especially AI, making FPT a flagship of AI in Vietnam. With his strong technology background and extensive working experience in many countries such as Japan, the US, and Singapore etc., he pushed the "Made by FPT" AI ​​platform to compete fiercely with the others by the world's leading technology corporations.

In addition, he promoted the development of a diversified technology product ecosystem and the application of new technologies such as Blockchain, Big Data and Cloud in the Corp. He specially dedicates resources to build the Vietnamese technology community via technology forums and playgrounds such as FPT Tech Day, Digital Race for all students at universities across the country; FPT.AI platform for developers for free; sessions joined by leading technology experts from Google and Amazon for Vietnamese technology lovers.
