FPT Partners with Silvaco to Develop the Semiconductor Industry - during the Prime Minister's Visit to the US

On September 22, 2023, in New York, USA, FPT Semiconductor signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Silvaco (USA) to develop the semiconductor industry's labor force and business activities. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of the Vietnamese government witnessed the event.

According to the cooperation agreement, both parties commit to collaborate in developing the workforce for semiconductor companies in the United States. Specifically, Silvaco, FPT Semiconductor JSC, and FPT University all pledge to cooperate in providing a high-quality workforce for US semiconductor companies. Besides, they will collaborate to establish a Semiconductor Training Center in Vietnam to promote the labor force under the government's program.

In addition, FPT will provide Intellectual Property (IP) on Silvaco's platform for Silvaco to offer to customers. Silvaco and FPT will also synergize in business development in StandardCell, IO, and Memory design. In the long term, Silvaco will become a strategic investor of FPT Semiconductor JSC.

FPT Semiconductor is also the exclusive representative and distributor of Silvaco's software in the semiconductor field in Vietnam.

Silvaco, founded in 1984, is a technology software and semiconductor company headquartered in Santa Clara, California, with offices in North America, Europe, and across Asia.

Previously, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with CEOs of leading US semiconductor companies. According to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, this is the step forward in implementing cooperation activities between US semiconductor companies and Vietnamese businesses, aiming to bring about market expansion opportunities and enhance Vietnam's capabilities in this domain.

On September 11, 2023, during the visit of US President Joe Biden to Vietnam, Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation, announced the US investment strategy to develop high-quality human resources in the field of AI and promote the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. FPT Corporation also announced a comprehensive strategic partnership with LandingAI, a pioneering company in Computer vision and AI in Silicon Valley, aimed at accelerating the integration of AI into FPT Education.

FPT is the first company in Vietnam to produce commercial chips, focusing on designing customized IC chips for customers. Currently, the Corporation is actively expanding its semiconductor and AI businesses. According to FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh, Vietnam can build a solid position in AI, and both the nation and FPT have the opportunity to further develop in the digital field.
