FPT Chairman chair Private Economic Development Research Board

The board is aimed at helping it to reform mechanism, policies and administrative procedures related to the private economic sector, in keeping with the national economic objectives.

The government has decided to establish a board for private economic development research.

The board is chaired by FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh, who is President of Viet Nam Software and IT Services Association and Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform.

Binh’s deputy is the General Director of Vina Capital Group and Deputy Chairman of Global Agenda Council on ASEAN (World Economic Forum), Don Di Lam.

Members of the board also include Chairman of Binh Duong Province Business Federation Mai Huu Tin, a member of the Tourism Advisory Board Tran Trong Kien, as well as a member of the VPSF Advisory Board Vu Van Tien and Chairman of the Binh Thuan Shrimp Association Nguyen Hoang Anh.

The board will be managed by the Government’s Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform. The board is aimed at helping it to reform mechanism, policies and administrative procedures related to the private economic sector, in keeping with the national economic objectives. It will also take the initiative of setting up an assisting system and mobilising resources for the performance of the assigned tasks.

The decision of setting up the new board was issued after a short dialogue between Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and enterprises at the 2nd Vietnam Business Forum on July 31, where the "talking along with doing" attitude of the Prime Minister was lauded.

FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh was born 1956. He graduated from Mechanical Mathematics Department of Moscow National General University named Lomonosov of the former Soviet Union, which is now Russian Federation in 1979. He successfully obtained his PhD in 1983 in this university and was honoured as an Associate Professor by the State of Vietnam in 1991. In 2013, he was awarded Nikkei Asia Prize in the category of regional growth for having contributed to the development of his own company but also to the development of IT business in Vietnam. Mr Truong Gia Binh, together with other twelve Vietnamese scientists established FPT Corporation in 1988. He has held the position of FPT Chairman over the past 29 years.
