14/03/2025

At the Vietnam AI and Semiconductor Conference (AISC VIETNAM 2025), FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh delivered an inspiring speech, reaffirming Vietnam’s position as a promising destination for global tech enterprises, especially in the AI and semiconductor sectors.

Vietnam – The country of golden human resources and immense potential.

In his speech, Mr. Truong Gia Binh emphasized that Vietnam is not only a country with 4,000 years of history but also an up-and-coming destination with decadent cuisine, warm-hearted people, and a talented young generation. He shared stories about the experiences of global tech leaders like Mr. Jensen Huang (CEO of NVIDIA) and other international partners, who were blown away by Vietnam's fast-paced development.

“Vietnam is not only a beautiful country but also a vast playing field with huge potential for collaboration in AI and semiconductors,” Mr. Binh stressed.

According to the FPT Chairman, Vietnam boasts a high-quality workforce of one million IT engineers, half of whom can pivot to AI. He emphasized that if Vietnam aims to train one million AI experts, it will rank among the world's top countries in tech development, as predicted by Mr. Jensen Huang.

"I hope you will see Vietnam as a massive talent hub, where ambitious and driven individuals gather and rise," Mr. Binh shared.

He also mentioned the relentless work ethic of Vietnamese engineers during the COVID-19 pandemic, when thousands of FPT employees burned the midnight oil to wrap up critical projects. “It’s that never-give-up spirit that makes Vietnamese engineers stand out on the world’s tech map,” he noted.

FPT's commitment to building AI and semiconductor talent

FPT is taking the lead in building AI and semiconductor talent in Vietnam. The Corporation is committed to upskilling 500,000 people in AI and aims to train 5,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030. FPT has 1,600 students enrolled in semiconductor studies, and over 10 top universities have kicked off AI and semiconductor training programs.

"We've built up a new generation of experts ready to dive into the global tech flow. This is a gold mine for international businesses to tap into," Mr. Binh emphasized.

Vietnam is carving out a place on the world tech map with intense breakthroughs in AI R&D. According to IDC's Spotlight report, FPT now ranks 48th globally among countries focused on AI research. Over the past six years, FPT has teamed up with Mila Research Institute, joining forces with top AI minds like Professor Yoshua Bengio and Andrew Ng.

These efforts have gained global recognition, with over 100 research papers published at prestigious AI conferences such as ICML, ACL, and NeurIPS. Notably, some of FPT’s research ranks in the world’s top 3%, helping to secure FPT's position in the top 50 leading global AI enterprises.

Vietnam is emerging as one of the most advanced AI infrastructure hubs in the world. FPT is pouring investment into high-performance computing technologies, like GPU H200, to keep up with skyrocketing global data demands. Mr. Jensen Huang once remarked that AI computing power needs to double or quadruple annually to handle data growth.

"We'll keep pouring resources to make Vietnam a leading AI hub for the region and beyond," Mr. Binh affirmed. FPT's goal is to build five AI factories worldwide by 2030.

Leading in AI-driven programming automation solutions

FPT is also at the forefront of AI-powered programming automation with its Codevista model. Currently, 8,000 FPT programmers are using this tool to speed up software development and cut down error rates. In 2022, Codevista took the top spot in Microsoft’s CodeXGLUE rankings.

“We are working on AI quantization techniques and building genAI models for chips, with plans to apply them in the automotive industry,” Mr. Binh shared.

FPT is broadening its AI reach globally, partnering with big names like Pertamina (Indonesia) and the National University of Singapore to set up an AI research lab. Mr. Binh called on the entire business ecosystem to join hands and turn Vietnam into an AI and semiconductor powerhouse.

“I hope Vietnam will become a trusted destination, a long-term strategic partner, and a constantly growing innovation hub,” Mr. Binh wrapped up his inspiring speech.

With its solid commitments and a sharp vision, Vietnam is steadily cementing its place on the global tech map, shaping itself into an irresistible destination for international businesses and investors.
