FPT Announces $1 Million AI Award: Honoring National Technological Sovereignty

Hanoi, August 29, 2025 – FPT Corporation officially announced the Âu Lạc Grand Prize, with a total value of USD 1 million. This is the largest award in Vietnam in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), honoring AI products and solutions developed and mastered by Vietnamese individuals and organizations, while affirming the aspiration to build a technologically sovereign nation.

The Âu Lạc Grand Prize is expected to be awarded annually over three consecutive years, starting in 2026. The honored products and solutions will be those that create breakthroughs for the economy and society, bringing positive and sustainable impacts to the community.

The award is endorsed by the Âu Lạc AI Alliance, with the participation of a professional council including leaders, experts, enterprises, and technology communities from both domestic and international spheres.

In addition to the USD 1 million prize, the winning individuals and organizations will receive mentorship and strategic support from FPT and the Âu Lạc AI Alliance to expand their influence both nationally and globally.

FPT announced the Âu Lạc Grand Prize on the occasion of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2) – marking 80 years since the country’s founding. The award carries profound symbolic significance, evoking the spirit of independence and self-reliance. Eighty years ago, Vietnam reclaimed its national sovereignty; today, through artificial intelligence, FPT aspires to help Vietnam achieve technological sovereignty – a new pillar in the digital era.

FPT has been a pioneer in AI research and development in Vietnam for over a decade, identifying AI as one of its five strategic pillars for long-term growth: AI – Semiconductor (BÁN) – Automotive Software (XE) – Digital Transformation (SỐ) – Green Transition (XANH).

The corporation currently has more than 1,000 AI engineers and experts, and operates two AI factories in Vietnam and Japan, in collaboration with NVIDIA.

FPT’s AI products and solutions have been widely applied across sectors such as education, healthcare, banking, commerce, and urban management — improving quality of life, productivity, and competitiveness for organizations and enterprises, with hundreds of millions of monthly users.

In the field of education, FPT maintains research partnerships with universities and institutes in Vietnam and abroad, including Mila and LandingAI. The group has integrated AI education from primary school and introduced AI/robotics into general education.

To date, FPT has trained 1,700 AI majors and aims to equip 500,000 people with AI skills by 2030.

In June 2025, responding to the call of General Secretary Tô Lâm and Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, FPT initiated the establishment of the Âu Lạc AI Alliance, bringing together over 20 leading technology corporations, research institutes, and universities.
