On August 18, 2015, FPT Corp and all employees in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh province and the National Fund for Vietnamese Children organized the program named “Thousands of FPT hearts towards Quang Ninh”.
Accordingly, FPT Corp and its employees built a computer room, a bookcase and awarded 147 scholarships and gifts to students whose families were affected by the flood at Tha Cat primary school and Mong Duong secondary school. These two schools in the city of Cam Pha, Quang Ninh province suffered most severely after the torrential rain.
Besides, they also gave a hand to support the free healthcare program for children in Ba Che District, Quang Ninh province on August 21 and 22.
The total number of the gifts and sponsorship was worth of nearly VND 300 million.
The flooding event was considered a 50-year flood in Quang Ninh, causing great damage to people and property. It also directly affected students’ learning. With the program, FPT staff hoped these small but practical gifts would help the people of Quang Ninh and students soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
FPT is the first private enterprise in Vietnam to have one day of the year – March 13 - for all employees to make contribution to the community. On the 2014 Community Day, FPT employees donated one day's salary to set up "FPT Staff for Community" fund. In 2014, the fund funded 100 free free cleft lip and palate repair surgeries to children; donating 2,040 units of blood; awarding 28 bookshelves and sharing difficulties with 9231 poor students nationwide.
In 2015, FPT’s community activities will focus on two major programs: "Give Wings to Dreams" aiming to help poor children access new knowledge with 38 bookcases and computers and “Thousands of FPT Hearts” aiming to support disaster victims.
