FPT to appoint new Board member: Executive Director of Japan’s Strategic Innovation Program at the Cabinet Office

Simultaneously contributing to national-level strategy design, serving as a Board Member and Senior Vice President of Sumitomo Corporation, and leading more than 50 successful M&A and investment deals for Sumitomo, Mr. Toshikazu Nambu represents a rare “three-in-one” leadership model even on a global scale. He is also the candidate nominated for additional election to FPT’s Board of Directors for the 2022–2027 term.

The information was disclosed in the documents for FPT’s 2026 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.
Mr. Toshikazu Nambu is a distinguished leader with nearly four decades of experience at Sumitomo Corporation—one of the world’s largest diversified trading and investment conglomerates. He has managed over 100 subsidiaries across sectors ranging from energy and automotive to technology and venture investment, and has directly led more than 50 global M&A and startup investment deals on behalf of Sumitomo.
Notably, he has played a key role in Japan’s national science, technology, and innovation policy. As Executive Director of the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP/BRIDGE) under the Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation Policy, Cabinet Office of Japan, Mr. Nambu has made significant contributions to strengthening Japan’s competitiveness in areas such as quantum technology, healthcare, disaster resilience, and advanced materials. He oversees collaboration among government, academia, and industry to commercialize research outcomes.
In his capacity as Vice Chair of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (Keizai Doyukai), Mr. Nambu has actively engaged in policy advocacy, promoted public dialogue, and helped shape the role of science and technology as a foundation for economic recovery and long-term competitiveness in Japan.
In addition, Mr. Nambu serves as a member of the International Data Governance Advisory Committee under Japan’s Digital Agency and as an independent board member of Daiwa House—one of Japan’s leading real estate corporations.
Across all roles, he consistently focuses on translating technology into practical applications, leveraging his extensive experience in turning societal challenges into sustainable business opportunities through the integration of public policy, scientific advancement, and private-sector execution capabilities.
The nomination of Mr. Toshikazu Nambu to FPT’s Board of Directors for the 2022–2027 term clearly reflects the corporation’s strategic direction to expand its global presence, master strategic technologies, and deepen connections with the international innovation ecosystem. With his deep expertise in governance, digital transformation, global investment, and the Japanese market—one of FPT’s key markets contributing a significant share of overseas revenue—Mr. Nambu is expected to help FPT enhance access to large enterprise clients and expand collaboration opportunities in digital transformation and high-tech sectors.
Recently, FPT also announced its strategic focus in the coming period on key technologies including AI, Quantum AI, cybersecurity, UAVs, railway technology, data, semiconductor chips, among others.
FPT’s Board of Directors for the 2022–2027 term currently consists of seven members, ensuring diversity in expertise, as well as a balance of independent and non-executive members, thereby maintaining objectivity, professionalism, and operational effectiveness. According to disclosed information, all board members possess expertise in finance, risk management, IT, legal, business administration, international experience, and the business environment.
