The activities were part of the Minister’s working visit to the Da Nang Party Committee and the inauguration ceremony of the FAB-lab. The Minister’s agenda at Danang Software Park No. 2 aimed to promote the innovation ecosystem in high-tech fields, particularly semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI). Through field surveys, meetings with local leaders, and direct engagement with the business community—especially startups—the program sought to gather insights and policy recommendations tailored to current realities.

At the event, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung attended the launch ceremony of the laboratory for advanced semiconductor packaging technology (FAB-lab Project)—one of the key components of Vietnam’s national semiconductor development strategy under Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 issued by the National Assembly.

In his remarks, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that packaging and testing represent a strategic link that enables Vietnam to participate more deeply in the global semiconductor value chain. The project serves as a flexible collaboration model between the government and enterprises, with the laboratory acting as a center for innovation and experimentation. The Minister affirmed: “The Ministry of Science and Technology is committed to accompanying Da Nang City in building mechanisms to support research and testing infrastructure, and to connecting national and international programs in the fields of packaging, design, and semiconductor testing.”

At the FAB-lab inauguration, FPT showcased its VR Training solution for operating semiconductor manufacturing equipment in cleanroom environments—an innovative application of virtual reality technology designed to enhance training efficiency and support the education and development of high-quality human resources (technicians and researchers) for Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.

Following the inauguration, the Minister and Da Nang city leaders visited FPT’s High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center, inaugurated in March 2025. Mr. Tran Dang Hoa, Chairman of FPT IS and representative of FPT Corporation, welcomed the delegation and introduced “Make in Vietnam – Made by FPT” technology solutions currently being researched and developed at the center.

The Minister commended the research and development efforts of FPT’s expert team at the center, encouraging engineers and staff to continue fostering innovation and contributing to the advancement of Vietnam’s high-tech industry.

FPT’s high-tech solution ecosystem focuses on developing platforms serving digital government, smart cities, healthcare, education, finance – banking, and manufacturing – industry, as well as data management and operational support solutions. These products integrate advanced technologies such as AI and Big Data to address the specific needs of each sector and meet the comprehensive digital transformation demands of both the public and private sectors.

In 2024 alone, many of FPT’s products were developed in Da Nang, directly contributing to solving real-world challenges through technology and fostering local innovation—aligned with the goals of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15.

In the afternoon, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung held a high-level working session with the Party Committee, People’s Committee of Da Nang City, and leading technology enterprises. This session provided an important platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and propose initiatives to effectively implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in national science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Mr. Hoa stated that FPT takes pride in its 20-year journey in Da Nang. Starting from zero, FPT has brought cutting-edge technologies—many of which are challenging to develop nationwide—to the city. Today, FPT has more than 10,000 employees working in Da Nang, serving leading partners and clients in healthcare, aviation, and security, among others.

Similar to its success story in software export two decades ago—when FPT’s determination and the passion of its technologists helped establish Vietnam as one of the world’s leading software export nations—the next 20 years will see FPT and Da Nang nurturing a new dream in AI and semiconductors. The immediate goal is to design high-quality, “Make in Vietnam” chips capable of competing globally—a goal FPT is actively pursuing. In the coming years, FPT aims to fully localize the design and testing stages in Da Nang and across Vietnam.

With Da Nang’s unique advantages in infrastructure, skilled workforce, and the presence of overseas Vietnamese experts returning from Silicon Valley, the city is well-positioned to achieve breakthroughs in AI and semiconductor development. Above all, Da Nang’s greatest strength lies in the close attention, support, and collaboration from its leadership and authorities. In this new era—where concepts, approaches, and technologies evolve daily—the pioneering spirit and readiness to embrace change will be the key to success. FPT hopes to continue earning the trust of local leaders and work hand in hand to overcome challenges in deploying emerging technologies.

With 37 years of experience in driving digital transformation in Vietnam and the region, and a global partner network, FPT is committed to attracting top partners and experts to Da Nang, fostering innovation, and advancing “Make in Vietnam – Make in Da Nang” technologies. “We believe that Da Nang will not only be the technology hub of Vietnam, but also of the world,” Mr. Hoa affirmed.
