FPT eyes top-tier tech co-operation at Davos forum

FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh attended the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) 2017 in Davos, Switzerland from January 17-20. Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things were high on the agenda as he met with more than 50 leading world businesses in technology, electronic commerce, banking and finance sectors on the sidelines of WEF 2017.
“WEF is a truly a valuable forum for participating businesses such as FPT. We had meetings with those who have been leading the game in the technology and business sectors. After the forum, FPT will continue to work with these global VIPs,” Binh said.
Binh had private meetings with leaders of the International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) to discuss the corporation’s interest in building and expanding the research model on machine learning and AI.
Bernard Meyerson, Chief information officer at IBM, has promised exchange programmes with FPT in training procedures for machine learning and AI. This cooperation should materialise during the IBM leader’s visit to Viet Nam expected to take place this year.
Binh also had a private meeting with Satya Nadella, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Corporation, to discuss co-operation on AI, digital solutions and cloud computing for businesses in the transportation and energy industries. Mr. Binh met with more than 50 leading world businesses in technology, electronic commerce, banking and finance sectors on the sidelines of WEF 2017.
FPT Chairman also met with Dell Chairman Michael Dell to discuss more co-operation in thr future.
In particular, Mr. Binh had a talk with Chief Digital Office of one of the world's leading airlines. The two sides exchanged views on the current relationship. He praised digital solutions that FPT developed for the firm and informed that that they would commenced a series of projects with FPT this month.
Besides, FPT Chairman had the opportunity to discuss the cooperation with General Electric to implement renewable energy projects in the US and Asia with digital solution packages; with Philips Lighting on smart street lighting system; and with one of the world’s leading agriculture compnies to provide digital agriculture solutions in the US market.

Mr. Binh was with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in the latter’s meeting with Alibaba Chairman Jack Ma to discuss co-operation on cloud computing and electronic commerce in the near future.
FPT Chairman joined Vietnam PM in breakfast talk with 14 top global company leaders in Davos. The represent of Siemens said that it would cooperate with FPT on human resources training in the field of digital manufacturing.
Meanwhile, Marsh & McLennan, one of the largest insurance brokerages in the US agreed to cooperate more closely with Vietnamese partners on digital financial solutions, Fujitsu also hoped to replicate the the model for digital agriculture in Vietnam.
In Viet Nam, FPT is one of the pioneers in the digital revolution and is making firm progress in foreign markets with 30% contribution to the total profit. The corporation has implemented many large scale projects for customers in the US, Japan, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Laos. It currently has been present in 20 countries. Thirty per cent of its 28,000 employees has worked abroad.
