FPT Partners Strategically to Develop Data Infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City

08/02/2026

Ho Chi Minh City, February 8, 2026 – At the Conference on Promoting Investment in Digital Infrastructure and Large-Scale Data Centers for the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City, FPT signed cooperation agreements with government agencies and international partners to develop large-scale data centers. The initiative aims to build a robust digital technology foundation and enhance the long-term competitiveness of both the International Financial Center and Vietnam’s digital economy.

Representing the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee were Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc – Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee; and Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong – Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee. Also in attendance were representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Saigon Hi-Tech Park, ambassadors, FPT leaders, G42, and international enterprises.

At the event, Mr. Truong Gia Binh – Chairman of FPT – emphasized: “Vietnam has no alternative but to rely on technology if it wants to sustain double-digit growth over the next 20 years. This is both the greatest challenge and the most critical mission. The country’s future prosperity must be built on a technological foundation. In today’s world, two things remain constant: global value chains continue to exist, and the future is shaped by technology. Therefore, the actions we take today are of vital importance.”

He also noted that Vietnam cannot develop technology in isolation—whether in semiconductors, AI, cloud computing, big data, or cybersecurity—but must form strategic alliances with trusted, long-term partners. According to him, strong commitments have already been established, and now is the time to translate them into concrete outcomes.

He further highlighted three key advantages Vietnam holds in international cooperation: decisive and agile government leadership; a large, motivated, and ambitious technical workforce; and a peaceful foreign policy that fosters partnerships with all nations.

Within the framework of the event, key agreements were signed, laying the foundation for the development of data infrastructure, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence in Ho Chi Minh City and across Vietnam. These initiatives are expected to support the International Financial Center and the digital economy in the next phase of growth.

G42 and the FPT – Viet Thai consortium sign a long-term framework agreement.

Accordingly, G42, a global technology group, and the FPT – Viet Thai investor consortium signed a long-term framework agreement to develop hyperscale data center infrastructure in Vietnam. These facilities will support AI and cloud computing applications for both domestic and international markets. G42 brings extensive experience in deploying large-scale AI infrastructure globally, including Stargate UAE—a next-generation AI infrastructure cluster with a total capacity of up to 1GW.

Under the agreement, the parties plan to jointly invest in, build, and operate hyperscale data centers that meet international standards. These centers will serve as a foundation for delivering digital technology services to the public sector, businesses, and global partners. The project represents a strategic step for Vietnam to integrate more deeply into the global digital infrastructure value chain and to position itself as a key hub for data and AI in the region.

The data centers will be developed in accordance with international standards, capable of processing and storing massive volumes of data for AI applications across both public and private sectors. The collaboration is expected to mobilize up to USD 1 billion in investment for sovereign AI and cloud infrastructure, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam’s digital transformation journey.

Through this initiative, the partners will facilitate global data exchange based on principles of security and trust, while also creating opportunities for technology enterprises, startups, and research institutions to grow. The project is expected to generate high-quality jobs in technology, data, and AI, contributing to the expansion of the digital economy and long-term value creation in Vietnam.

Mr. Ali Al Amine – Chief Commercial Officer of G42 International – stated that the framework agreement represents a new model for national-level AI transformation, built on sovereignty, collaboration, and shared objectives. It also demonstrates a strong commitment to developing strategic infrastructure that enables Vietnam to fully harness AI potential while ensuring data sovereignty and digital independence.

“This initiative positions Vietnam as a leader in AI-driven economic development in Asia, supporting economic growth and the expansion of the middle class,” said Mr. David Thai – Chairman and CEO of Viet Thai Group.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology and the VinaCapital – FPT – Viet Thai consortium signed a memorandum of understanding on developing large-scale data centers integrated with an innovation and technology complex. The city and investors agreed to jointly build strategic digital infrastructure, aiming to transform Ho Chi Minh City into a regional hub for data, AI, and digital technologies.

Through its participation in the conference and the signing of strategic cooperation agreements, FPT continues to work closely with Ho Chi Minh City and both domestic and international partners to develop world-class data infrastructure, cloud computing, and AI capabilities—contributing to a strong digital foundation for the International Financial Center and the sustainable growth of Vietnam’s digital economy.
