Under the agreement, the KNU Vietnam program will offer two key majors—Technology and Business—with the full academic curriculum transferred from South Korea, and bachelor’s degrees granted directly by KNU.
In the context of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW issued by the Politburo, which identifies science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as strategic breakthroughs for national development, while also highlighting the urgent need for high-quality technology human resources to gradually master strategic technologies, international training cooperation models are becoming an important pathway for Vietnam to enhance its technological capabilities and integrate more deeply into the global value chain.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between Kyungpook National University and FPT University to implement the international training cooperation program was held with the participation of senior leaders from both countries, demonstrating the strategic and multi-dimensional nature of this collaboration.

Upon graduation, they will receive a bachelor’s degree awarded by Kyungpook National University. This model enables students to access an international learning environment within Vietnam while expanding global study and career opportunities.

In the context of increasingly comprehensive Vietnam–South Korea relations, education is emerging as a strategic pillar of cooperation. South Korea is currently one of the largest FDI investors in Vietnam, with the presence of many leading corporations in electronics, high-tech, and manufacturing sectors. As a result, demand for a workforce with technological expertise, global management capabilities, and understanding of both cultures continues to rise.
The fact that a reputable public university from South Korea is implementing an official degree program in Vietnam reflects a growing level of trust and deepening ties between the two countries. This is considered a new step in the internationalization of higher education and the expansion of bilateral academic cooperation.
Kyungpook National University is currently ranked 519th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and is among the Top 10 universities in South Korea according to the Center for World University Rankings, affirming its academic reputation and training quality in a competitive global context.
The decision of KNU to choose Vietnam as a destination for program deployment demonstrates its recognition of the country’s potential in education and human resource development.
As a global technology corporation operating in more than 30 countries and territories, FPT has built an extensive network of clients and partners worldwide, with South Korea identified as a key strategic market. FPT is currently implementing numerous technology, digital transformation, and software service projects for major Korean enterprises, while also supporting Korean corporations investing and operating in Vietnam.
In the long term, the program is expected to become a model of sustainable international collaboration, where enterprises, universities, and regulatory bodies jointly participate in building a high-quality human resource ecosystem that directly meets the technological development strategies and investment needs of both countries. This is not only a training program but also a strategic step contributing to advancing Vietnam–South Korea relations into a deeper phase of cooperation in the era of digital economy and knowledge globalization.
