FPT IS runs the first national IT system of Bangladesh

Bangladesh National Board of Revenue and FPT Information System (FPT IS) officially run the Bangladesh Income Tax integration system (BITAX). The project provides the National Board of Revenue with a concentrated tax administration system which helps manage nearly 700 agencies across the country. Especially, the new system enables more than 3 million Bangladesh taxpayers to declare online, search for information on the taxable income, submit copies of relevant papers and quickly complete the payments.

BITAX is the first national IT project of Bangladesh to be successfully deployed and officially put into operation. The categories deployed by FIS in this project include: Application software system of SAP Tax and Revenue Management for tax officers and taxpayers; Hardware infrastructure system (network, server, storage, security...) applied in data centers and the local tax authorities; and Supporting the system’s operation.

Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, CEO of FPT IS said that BITAX was the first global project of FPT IS in Bangladesh. Despite that fact, thanks to the experience of implementing similar projects in domestic market, along with the flexibility to each foreign market, FPT IS has successfully delivered the project on time, which took just half of the deploying time of a similar project in Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. M.A. Mannan – Member of Parliament, Cabinet minister cum Standing Deputy Minister of Finance, affirmed that this IT project has significant meanings to the tax industry in Bangladesh, affecting millions of people. It was the strong IT capabilities of FPT IS, together with the similarities in cultural, social and economic conditions between the two countries that made Bangladesh National Board of Revenue decide to choose FPT IS to be the main contractor for this project.

South Asia is a crucial market in FPT IS’s global strategy. After more than two years operating in this market, FPT IS has won four consecutive contracts with a total value of nearly USD 60 million, equivalent to VND 1,350 billion. FPT IS’s capabilities and experiences have been recognized by large customers and partners in South Asia. Recently, FPT IS has overcome all major partners of SAP India to be awarded SAP’s Partner of the Year. This is the highest award for partners in SAP India’s primary markets including India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. In order to affirm the long-term business strategy in Bangladesh, FPT IS plans to open a branch in this potential market in the coming time.
