Despite global economic fluctuations and challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the yen's devaluation, Vietnamese IT businesses have remained resilient, working alongside international partners in digital transformation efforts to enhance competitiveness. These companies have not only maintained robust revenue growth but also researched and developed advanced, practical solutions. In recognition of their pioneering efforts, the Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications has awarded Certificates of Merit to six companies: FPT Japan, VTI Japan, Luvina Japan, Rikkei Japan, CMC Japan, and Kaopiz.

Vietnam IT Day 2024 took place on August 6 in Tokyo, Japan, under the theme "Vietnam - Comprehensive IT Partner for Japan's Sustainable Digital Economic Development." The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), the Japan IT Services Industry Association (JISA), and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam.
This event is part of a series of three annual trade promotion activities designed to connect Vietnamese and Japanese businesses, foster cooperation in the digital technology sector, and support the advancement of Vietnamese IT enterprises in the international market.
Vietnam IT Day 2024 saw the participation of Vietnam's Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu, representatives from the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), and 250 delegates from both countries.
In addition to the conference, the Vietnam IT Day 2024 program featured 15 booths from Vietnamese businesses and hosted 1:1 trade connection activities between Vietnamese and Japanese companies, facilitating approximately 180 meetings.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of VINASA, emphasized that digital technology cooperation between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses continues to thrive. Vietnam remains Japan's top choice and second-largest digital transformation partner.

Therefore, for its 11th iteration, Vietnam IT Day 2024 has chosen the theme "Vietnam - Comprehensive IT Partner for Japan's Sustainable Digital Economic Development," focusing on three critical areas for collaboration over the next 5-10 years. These include system digital transformation and AI applications, the digital transformation of production and green transformation, and the readiness of Vietnamese human resources and digital technology businesses to support Japanese partners in these initiatives.
According to Mr. Noriya Tarutani, Deputy Director of the Innovation Department at JETRO, Japan continues to make significant direct investments in Vietnam's IT sector, with 59 investments in 2023 alone, representing 20% of the total. In recent years, Japanese startups have increasingly established development bases in Vietnam, attracted by the country's exceptional engineering talent. They are positioning Vietnam as a hub for R&D and advanced technologies such as AI. Conversely, investment from Vietnam to Japan is also on the rise, with the IT sector dominating JETRO's consulting activities for Vietnamese companies looking to expand into Japan.
