FPT Software has officially obtained the ISO/SAE 21434 certification — the international standard for cybersecurity in road vehicles. This achievement not only demonstrates the strong capabilities of the FPT Automotive team but also reaffirms the company’s commitment to meeting the stringent global requirements for automotive security.

To achieve this certification, FPT Automotive invested heavily in training and upskilling its engineering workforce. Twenty FPT Software engineers completed intensive courses and earned Cyber Security Engineer certifications one of the key requirements ensuring that FPT Automotive possesses a highly qualified team ready to execute automotive cybersecurity projects in compliance with international standards.
In addition, FPT Automotive has developed a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS), consisting of 67 newly drafted process documents within a short timeframe. This system enables FPT Automotive to manage cybersecurity risks effectively and fully comply with the requirements of ISO/SAE 21434 certification.
According to Ms. Đinh Thị Phương Mai, a member of the project team, a core group of ten members worked intensively over a period of seven months to complete all necessary components for certification. “The biggest challenge of this journey was that the certification was entirely new, requiring us to both train personnel and implement activities simultaneously to finalize the competency profile. Achieving this certification required close collaboration between FPT Automotive and multiple departments,” Ms. Phương shared.
Omnex Certification Organization conducted the official audit and granted the certificate to FPT Automotive, recognizing the team’s professional expertise and commitment to excellence. However, achieving certification is only the beginning. FPT Automotive will continue to apply this standard across its real-world projects while maintaining and improving its processes through annual evaluation cycles.
Since 2021, FPT Automotive has been engaged in automotive cybersecurity projects with leading automakers and Tier 1 suppliers in Europe. Attaining ISO/SAE 21434 certification not only strengthens FPT Software’s reputation in automotive cybersecurity but also opens the door for deeper engagement in the European market — renowned for its strict standards in process management and information security.
The ISO/SAE 21434 standard defines the requirements for managing cybersecurity risks in road vehicles. These cybersecurity requirements govern automotive products throughout their entire lifecycle from the initial concept phase to design, production, maintenance, and decommissioning.
Developed jointly by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International, ISO/SAE 21434 was created to help organizations establish cybersecurity policies and risk management processes. This technical standard imposes rigorous requirements across 45 security domains, known as “work products,” each containing specific criteria that cover all aspects of designing electrical and electronic systems in road vehicles from ICs and software to firmware and libraries.
