Recently, a high-level delegation of the Government of the Republic of Korea, led by Mr. Lee Dokyu, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), paid a visit to and held working sessions at the headquarters of FPT Corporation. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation opportunities across three strategic pillars: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Semiconductors, and high-quality human resource development.

The Korean delegation was received by Mr. Nguyen The Phuong, Senior Executive Vice President and CFO of FPT Corporation, together with leaders of FPT member units in charge of AI, semiconductors, and education.

Mr. Nguyen The Phuong – Senior Executive Vice President and CFO of FPT Corporation, representing FPT in discussions with the Korean Government delegation.
Opening the meeting on behalf of FPT Corporation, Mr. Nguyen The Phuong warmly welcomed Vice Minister Lee Dokyu and the delegation. Sharing perspectives on FPT’s relationship with the Korean market, Mr. Phuong emphasized that Korea has been a highly strategic market for FPT throughout the Group’s 10-year journey of operations in the country.
“Korea is a nation with strong development in ICT, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and other high-tech industries. Korea’s achievements in these advanced technology fields have always been a source of admiration for the Vietnamese people in general, and for FPT in particular,” Mr. Phuong stated.
The Senior Executive Vice President of FPT affirmed that although FPT has already established multiple cooperation activities with major Korean corporations, the rapid advancement of science and technology continues to open significant untapped potential for deeper collaboration between FPT, the Korean Government, and the Korean business community, particularly in AI, semiconductors, and high-quality talent development.
During the discussion sessions, representatives of FPT in the AI and semiconductor domains presented overviews of the Group’s technological capabilities. With a view toward promoting shared development, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bao, AI Director of FPT Korea, FPT Corporation, proposed that the Korean Government consider mechanisms enabling Vietnamese enterprises with legal entities in Korea to access abundant GPU infrastructure in order to participate more actively in AI operations.
In addition, FPT expressed its readiness to share AI implementation experience, act as a bridge between international markets and Korean technology startups, and contribute to Korea’s national AI self-reliance programs.
In the semiconductor sector, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang, CEO of FPT Semiconductor, FPT Corporation, highlighted that collaboration between the two countries could generate substantial synergies. Vietnam possesses a young workforce with strong foundations in mathematics and natural sciences, well-suited for semiconductor development, while Korea holds significant strengths in hardware manufacturing and fabrication.
FPT Semiconductor representatives also shared strategic orientations toward developing technology products for the low-altitude economy (such as drones and UAVs), an area FPT is actively pursuing, and expressed interest in partnering with Korean enterprises to identify optimal solutions.
In the field of education, Mr. Nguyen Khanh Toan, Director of International Cooperation at FPT University, FPT Corporation, proposed a large-scale cooperation model, noting that FPT University has a sizable student population specializing in semiconductor microelectronics. FPT expressed its hope that the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT would introduce and sponsor high-tech enterprises to receive Vietnamese students for internships, while also supporting visa mechanisms and scholarship programs to attract talent for long-term employment.

Responding to FPT’s presentations, Vice Minister Lee Dokyu expressed strong impressions of FPT’s capabilities. He emphasized that, in addition to semiconductors, the Korean Government is keen to expand cooperation with countries such as Viet Nam in AI and talent development.
Regarding FPT’s cooperation proposals, the Vice Minister noted that following the passage of Korea’s AI Act, the Government would review regulations that may pose obstacles to foreign enterprises, with a view toward identifying solutions and facilitating cooperation opportunities.
Over the past 10 years of operations in Korea, FPT has established deep cooperation across multiple technology domains, particularly in semiconductors and digital transformation/ERP, with the objectives of expanding market presence, enhancing technological capabilities, delivering AI solutions, and developing high-quality human resources—supporting FPT’s ambition to become a strategic technology partner in this key market.
