FPT Engages with Japan’s Aerospace Network to Promote the Low-Altitude Economy

09/12/2025

Recently, a working session was held between the Vietnam Aerospace – Aviation – Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Network (AUVS Vietnam) and the Japan Aerospace – Aviation – UAV Network (JUAV Japan). The meeting aimed to promote bilateral cooperation, share expertise, and explore opportunities for collaboration in the low-altitude economy and UAV technologies.

On the Vietnamese side, the delegation included representatives from AUVS Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT Corporation, hosted the meeting along with representatives from relevant FPT units. The Japanese delegation was represented by Mr. Satoru Shimada, Board Member of Aeroseness Inc., and Mr. Koichi Kono, Representative of the Tokyo Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center.

FPT: A Pioneer in Promoting the Low-Altitude Economy in Vietnam

Speaking at the session, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT Corporation, emphasized that Vietnam’s low-altitude economy is currently in the early stages of forming its regulatory framework, opening up significant development potential. He noted that FPT, together with other enterprises, co-founded the Low-Altitude Economy Partnership (LAEP) to help build the ecosystem, contribute policy input, and support market development.

At the same time, AUVS, a UAV network within the Vietnam Innovation Network, plays an important role in connecting global experts and advancing UAV technologies in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa stated:

“As a member of the Low-Altitude Economy Partnership and a pioneering technology enterprise, FPT aims to work closely with domestic and international organizations to develop the low-altitude economy ecosystem. This is a high-potential field that requires close collaboration among enterprises, research networks, and regulatory authorities.”

He also affirmed FPT’s readiness to contribute its strengths in AI, design and engineering capabilities, a high-quality engineering workforce, advanced technology infrastructure, and extensive implementation experience in both Vietnam and Japan, to support UAV enterprises in achieving rapid, safe, and sustainable growth.

During the meeting, participants exchanged views on technical standards, UAV business models, market demand, and emerging trends in regional technology cooperation.

Key Areas of Cooperation

The discussion focused on four main areas of collaboration:

1. Connecting enterprise networks operating in the UAV and low-altitude economy sectors between Vietnam and Japan, creating opportunities for market expansion for businesses from both countries.

2. Sharing policy and regulatory experience, particularly Japan’s lessons learned in developing legal frameworks for UAV operations and low-altitude flight management.

3. Technical and design engineering cooperation, leveraging Vietnam’s human resource advantages and Japan’s technological expertise.

4. Human resource development, through connecting universities and research institutes to build specialized training programs for engineers in the low-altitude economy sector.

Future Collaboration Outlook

At the conclusion of the session, representatives of the participating organizations reaffirmed their commitment to further discussions and cooperation in the following areas:

UAV applications in industry and services

Management and operation of low-altitude airspace

Flight data analytics and AI-driven automation

Development of low-altitude economy models serving enterprises and regulatory agencies

FPT reaffirmed its commitment to continue working closely with LAEP, AUVS, and international partners to help build a robust technology ecosystem and promote the low-altitude economy as a new growth sector in Vietnam.
