FPT Expands Strategic Cooperation in South Korea in the Semiconductor Industry and High-Quality Human Resource Development

Seoul, South Korea – August 12, 2025 – Within the framework of the Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum 2025, and under the witness of General Secretary To Lam, Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, and senior leaders of both countries, FPT Corporation signed strategic cooperation agreements with ABOV Semiconductor and Gachon University. The agreements aim to promote the development of semiconductor technology and high-quality human resources between the two nations amid the strong growth of the global digital economy.

Cooperation with ABOV Semiconductor to Develop Next-Generation Chips

FPT Corporation has officially signed a cooperation agreement with ABOV Semiconductor – a leading South Korean semiconductor company specializing in the design and production of microcontrollers and memory chips – to promote collaboration in research, design, and development of semiconductor chips, as well as expand markets and accelerate semiconductor applications in South Korea. Specifically, both parties will use chips designed by FPT, particularly in the Korean market; jointly implement research, design, and development projects for next-generation chips; and develop competitive products and other flexible cooperation initiatives based on specific projects and practical needs.

As part of its semiconductor development plan in South Korea, FPT aims to contribute to building a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, spanning from human resources to services, toward sustainable and long-term growth. FPT currently possesses strong capabilities in customized integrated circuit (IC) design services and plans to expand into advanced packaging and semiconductor testing in the future. South Korea, with a semiconductor market valued at approximately USD 87 billion (2023), continues to grow rapidly thanks to substantial investments from major corporations.

Partnership with Gachon University to Train High-Tech Human Resources

In the field of education, FPT University has signed a cooperation agreement with Gachon University – one of South Korea’s leading universities – to strengthen collaboration through student exchange and training programs (including undergraduate and postgraduate levels); joint academic programs; faculty, scholar, and expert exchange; sharing of academic materials, publications, and research information; and other academic exchange activities. This agreement is expected to enhance the quality of technology education and promote academic and knowledge exchange between Vietnam and South Korea.

Gachon University is renowned for its strengths in Information Technology and high-tech disciplines, particularly in Semiconductors, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence, and has collaborated on research with leading technology corporations such as Samsung, LG, and SK Hynix.

Meanwhile, FPT University is among the pioneering universities in Vietnam in training Information Technology disciplines, including Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Semiconductor Design, with programs closely aligned with business needs and international standards.

South Korea – FPT’s Strategic Market in APAC

South Korea is one of FPT’s key strategic markets in the Asia–Pacific (APAC) region.
