On April 26, 2017, Towards Transparency launched Transparency in Corporate Reporting: Assessing the 30 largest companies in Vietnam (TRAC Vietnam 2017).
According to this report, FPT is one of the two enterprises being ranked the first position with a maximum point of 100% on the transparency criteria including corporate and ownership structure. Specifically, FPT disclosed information on all its subsidiaries and associates. As of December 31, 2016, FPT had 8 subsidiaries (excluding one subsidiary that has been decided to narrow down its business activities since 2011) and 2 associates.
According to Towards Transparency organization’s assessment, two enterprises with maximum points indicates that it is probable that Vietnamese enterprises can be fully capable of meeting international transparency standards. Compliance with international standards, including standards of transparency, is becoming more urgent as Vietnamese enterprises are expanding globally. When the enterprise is committed to publicity, they are committing to a higher level of responsibility. At the same time, this creates positive impact on both the domestic-based and overseas-based staff by emphasizing the commitment and support of the enterprise to business ethics behaviors.
In addition, FPT is also one of the 14 companies providing information on their overseas subsidiaries. FPT presents in 21 countries such as USA, Japan, France, Germany, Slovakia, Singapore, etc. In 2016, FPT's overseas revenue reached VND 6,121 billion, up 26% YoY, accounting for 15% of total revenue. PBT from overseas markets in 2016 reached VND 935 billion, up 40% YoY, accounting for 31% of total PBT. In particular, Japan is the largest market, accounting for 46.8% of total revenue from overseas markets. FPT currently has 4 offices and 2 dormitories in Japan.
Madam. Nguyen Thi Kieu Vien, Executive Director of Towards Transparency said, "For the first time, the TRAC Vietnam 2017 assesses information disclosure practices of the 30 largest companies selected from the VNR 500 2015 list, including 10 listed companies, 10 companies with 100% foreign owned capital and 10 state-owned companies." According to Mdm. Vien, through the assessment of information disclosure practices of enterprises, the report helps enterprises review the information disclosure practice in their units against the international standards in order to identify appropriate improvement. In addition, the report also seeks to promote good practices and support companies to better communicate their commitment to anti-corruption and information disclosure to stakeholders.
The TRAC Vietnam 2017 evaluates the enterprise's information disclosure in three aspects: anti-corruption program; transparency in corporate and ownership structure and reporting by geography.
