FPT Shop ranked among best-performing retailers in Vietnam

According to the data of Retail Asia Publishing Pte Ltd and Euromonitor Pte Ltd, FPT Shop ranked first in terms of sales per sqm in Vietnam.

The ranking named the top retailers in each of the 14 economies in Asia Pacific, took into account many variables such as total sales, the number of outlets, sales areas, and sales per sqm.

In terms of sales, FPT Shop ranks fourth, after Mobile World, Saigon Coop and Big C. However, in terms of sales per sqm, FPT Shop ranks first with USD15,717/m2. Mobile World earned USD5,076 USD/m2, though it ranked first in terms of sales.

Vietnam's retail market has witnessed a strong and rapid penetration of many big foreign retailers.  The presence of foreign rivals in the domestic market makes Vietnamese retailers more active in increasing the number of stores and online sales.

In 2016, FPT Retail saw the highest growth among FPT's member companies. It earned VND10,585 billion in revenue, an increase of 35% and VND259 billion in profit before tax, an increase of 44.2%. By the end of 2016, FPT Retail has a total of 400 stores.

In the year 2017, FPT Retail plans to open 100 more stores, aiming at 27.5% sales growth.
