FPT signed cooperation agreements with Toppan Printing Co.Ltd and Tokyo Shoseki, two giants in the fields of printing and education. The signing ceremony was held on May 26 in Nagoya during Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to Japan from May 26 to 28.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the Vietnam-Japan high-level economic policy dialogue on May 26, right after his arrival in Nagoya city, Japan’s Aichi prefecture.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Ishige Hiroyuki, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and some business men from the two sides.
The signing ceremony was attended by FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh, Director of Center for BPO solution under Toppan Printing Co.Ltd Motohiro Hasegawa and Deputy Director of Tokyo Shoseki Koju Uchida.
Accordingly, FPT and Toppan Printing will cooperate in software outsourcing and expand business in the Southeast Asian markets. The cooperation is expected to bring more orders to FPT for software outsourcing from the company, especially in business process outsourcing (BPO), in which there is competition from China and the Philippines.
Toppan Printing was established in 1900 and is a leader in the printing sector but also involved in many others, such as information technology, electronics, healthcare, and furniture. The company reached 1,526,914 million yen in revenue and 48,900 employees in 2014. More details at: http://www.toppan.co.jp/english/corporateinfo/overview.html.
The contact between FPT and Tokyo Shoseki is focused on digitizing electronic textbooks for Japan and Vietnam. The Ministry of Education in Japan will pass plans this year to digitize all textbooks in primary schools and secondary schools by 2020. Signing a contract with Tokyo Shoseki gives FPT a major opportunity to secure orders in this regard.
Founded 1909, Tokyo Shoseki is Japan's largest publisher of textbooks. See more details at: https://www.tokyo-shoseki.co.jp/company_english/information.html.
These are two key sectors where FPT wishes to expand in Japan. Gaining a contact with a large Japanese firm like Toppan Printing will help boost Vietnam’s brand in the BPO field.
Over recent years, Japan has been the most important market in FPT’s software exports, which makes up 50 per cent of its revenue. In first four months of this year, FPT’s revenue from the Japanese market was the highest ever, increasing by 59 per cent year-on-year. FPT now has 4,500 engineers working for Japanese partners.
In 2017 FPT expects the Japanese market will contribute USD 200 million to its revenue and create job opportunities for 8,800 employees in Japan and Vietnam.
