FPT "Launcher" Facilitates Male Students to Win a Series of Scholarships from the World's Leading Universities

As a student of FPT Software AI Residency — a program aimed at training young talents for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) industry — Hoang Khang, with research experience at international conferences, has successfully secured admission to 9 leading universities worldwide to pursue a doctoral degree.

Graduating as the valedictorian in Mathematics from Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences, Hoang Khang is currently enrolled in the FPT Software AI Residency program, aimed at training young Vietnamese talents in the field of AI.
After two years of building a solid foundation of research expertise in a global environment and expanding connections with leading experts, Hoang Khang has successfully gained admission to nine prestigious universities worldwide, including UCLA, Duke University, and UCSD.
Attaining a PhD will be a firm foundation for Hoang Khang's pursuit of his ultimate aspiration of becoming a mathematical researcher. He aims to apply theoretical and practical insights into AI to develop AI models and propose impactful enhancements for real-world applications.
Recognizing FPT Software AI Residency as one of the few comprehensive training programs in Vietnam, offering the chance to engage in top-tier research alongside a team of esteemed professors, Hoang Khang eagerly joined the initiative, successfully presenting his inaugural scientific research.
As the primary researcher during his tenure as a young student, Khang recounted undergoing a year-long implementation phase with the enthusiastic backing of FPT Software AI Residency experts stationed at centers worldwide, specializing in AI, mathematics, and statistics.
In addition to cultivating a solid academic foundation, excelling in competitions, and obtaining requisite certifications like TOEFL and GRE, Khang's enrollment in the FPT Software AI Residency program conferred upon him distinct advantages when pursuing PhD opportunities at prestigious universities globally.
Indeed, having research accepted and published at esteemed conferences like ICML, receiving letters of recommendation from eminent professors, and garnering support from talented peers and experts proved instrumental during his application process.
In reflecting on his achievement, Hoang Khang said, "My achievements owe much to the mentors at FPT Software AI Residency, distinguished researchers from prominent AI research hubs globally. Through their guidance, I acquired crucial competencies like problem assessment, hypothesis formulation, brainstorming solutions, and other indispensable research skills.
Moreover, at FPT Software AI Residency, I have access to high-performance computing systems and engage in training sessions led by numerous AI research experts. These opportunities foster an environment conducive to my focused development", said Hoang Khang.
After receiving multiple invitations from esteemed institutions like Duke University, Northeastern University, UCSD, UCLA, UT Austin, and Georgia Tech, among others, Hoang Khang has decided to pursue his doctoral studies in mathematics at UCLA University in the US later this year.
FPT Software AI Residency is a program designed to groom the next generation of talent for Vietnam's AI industry by immersing them in research and development projects within an international working environment. This initiative is backed by Mila, one of the world's premier AI research institutes. Through 2023, FPT Software AI Residency has yielded 63 scholarly publications, with 43 of these works accepted and featured in prestigious conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ACL, and EMNLP. Several program graduates have secured doctoral and master's scholarships at prestigious institutions, including Stanford University, the University of Pennsylvania, EPFL, UCLA, and the National University of Singapore.
