- How does the picture of FPT Software Japan figure out?

After two-year operations, the company’s estimated volume is around USD 5 million as late of 2007, five times higher than those of previous year and 50-70% annual growth will be maintained.

In 2008, it is expected that volume of FPT Software in Japan market with contributions of FPT Software Japan will be USD 30 million.

- Customers and competitors are the key factors to identify position of FPT Software Japan in market. What is your evaluation on the two things?

Mainly, Japanese big customers are now in Tokyo, some in Osaka, Kyoto and Nagoya. 2007 emerging customers tend to move to brands such as Panasonic, Fujifilm, Kyocera, Nomura Asset management, SSJ, Nissan, NCS, Chuden CTI, NTT Data subsidiaries.

Competitors of FPT Software Japan are mainly companies from China, India, the Phillippines and small and medium sized SI companies of Japan. Currently, FPT Software Japan is facing a fact that big SI companies of Japan towards to Vietnam destination by opening branches in Vietnam and/or buy small and medium information companies of Vietnam to deal with human resources and penetrate into Vietnam market such as Fujitsu, NEC Soft, Unisys Solution, Panasonic, Toshiba.

- What do you think of competitiveness of FPT Software Japan and foreign companies in Japan market?

Although our strength is low price (about 30%) compared to China, culture and behaviors, we are second to them as we are not good at Japanese language proficiency, especially in Japanese speaking projects.

Compared to India, we are also not good at English, especially in English speaking projects, technologies, project management and experience in mega projects.

Compared to the Philippines, in addition to comparative price, Vietnam has a sustained politic base, we are close to Japan culturally and geographically, as well as the top international standard procedures in software production - CMMI5.

- What are oppotunities of FPT Software Japan in Japan market?

Japan’s information market is second in the world to America, about USD 13 billion/year in which about 46.3% is outsourcing deals in foreign countries. 2006 Report said the number of people working in the information service of Japan was around 537,000 workers, lower than the demand about 44,000 workers.

For the time being, outsourcing deal of Japan to China is very huge. In order to avoid risks, Japan is looking for the solution China plus one, meaning they are seeking a second partner to mitigate risks so Vietnam is their second choice. Presently, in Vietnam FPT Software is the number one partner of Japanese customers.

Additionally, banking, finance and embeded software are also on the rise with a rapid development pace that require highly qualifed employees, high quality products, short delivery time. Therefore, human power for the two fields are at the urgent need and the outsourcing deals are also on the increase.

- How does FPT Software Japan get its brand familiar in Japan market?

The company will further internal project managemnet training and distance training.

Steadily, the company will recruit Japanese engineers, project managers and sales officers. We also plan to coordinate with SI small and medium companies to approach end users. Even, merge and buy Japanese companies to tap experience and expertise in Japan market.

The company will focus on necessary technology and expertise. At the same time, improve knowlege and technology capacity to grasp more important projects.

The company will send more engineers to Japan to work, learn and improve their profession in finance, banking and stock./
