According to the representative of Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), permanent working party to promote national development of IPv6, the last year’s IPv6 deployment in Vietnam  produce many positive results.

When Phase II (2013-2015) of the National Action Plan on IPv6 was completed, the rate of Vietnam IPv6 users reached only  0.05% although the infrastructure was ready for the transition to IPv6.

Up to now, the number of Vietnam IPv6 users has reached more than 2.3 million users, showing a remarkable growth rate of around 5% (according to Cisco). Vietnam ranked 2nd in ASEAN and 4th in Asia (following Japan, Malaysia and India) in terms of IPv6 deployment.

The representative of VNNIC also said that these results were achieved thanks to the outstanding efforts of enterprises in bringing IPv6 services closer to users, including FPT Telecom.

According to the report of Vietnam IPv6 Task Force (VNIPv6TF), FPT Telecom was the leading enterprise in Vietnam and ranked in 47th position globally in terms of IPv6 deployment. FPT officially offered IPv6 services to 800,000 household users. 100% of FPT Telecom websites were made available via IPv6. FPT Telecom rolled out IPv6 to its entire internal network as well as content services and applications with about 1 million customers; 22.7% of the Ipv6 international traffic and about 0.037% of Ipv6 domestic traffic.

In 2017, FPT Telecom will continue to better and build IPv6 connections to important upstream, peering and content connections; complete the upgrade of national IPv6 infrastructure; the transformation of networks, services, applications, software and devices, ensure that Vietnam’s Internet is fully IPv6 capable; hit the goal of 30% of users transitioning to IPv6. In 2017, it is expected that from 1 million to 1,5 million users will be ready for IPv6.
