FPT University come second place at online round of the ACM/ICPC 2015

In the morning of October 3, 8 teams from FPT University (FU) participated in the Northern region online round of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) 2015. No name Yet, one of the 8 FU teams, came second place at this round. According to the Organizers, the best teams would win tickets to the official round to take place at Hanoi University of Business and Technology on November 26 and 27.

No name Yet, one of the 8 FU teams, came second place at this round. According to the Organizers, the best teams would win tickets to the official round to take place at Hanoi University of Business and Technology on November 26 and 27.

Besides No Name Yet, Try Hard team, whose members were freshmen of the 11th course, was also named among Top 7, followed by Primal Spirit team.

 

With its organization experience as well as existing infrastructure, FPT University continued to host this year’s online round for the Northern region. According to the Organizers, there were 141 teams with 423 contestants to join the round.

 

"No Name Yet is a really excellent team. The students also showed their abilities through the online round. The four remaining teams are also pretty good," said Huynh Anh Dung, Lead Manager of FPT University delegation.

 

At the ACM/ICPC, each three-member team must solve problems on one computer. This year, the teams have to go through 3 regional online rounds and one national online round. The best teams will win tickets to the official event to take place at Hanoi University of Business and Technology on November 26 and 27.

ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) is a global-scale programming contest for university/college students hosted by ACM (Association for Computing Machinery). The contest provides college students with an opportunity to interact with students from universities around the world and to sharpen their computer knowledge and skills.

 

At the ACM/ICPC 2014, the two teams from FPT University occupied two highest positions at the national round. Then at the regional round in Jakarta, Indonesia, FPT University delegation won the two single tickets to the global finals held in Ekaterineburg, Russia. FPT University delegation ranked No. 45 with 2 resolved problems in line with 34 other universities including some well-known universities such as Standford, Cambridge etc.
