The research work of Dr. Pham Thanh Vinh – a lecturer in Business Administration at FPT University (FPT Corporation) – beat out more than 60 other scientific studies to clinch the prestigious Best of Region award at the 2025 ACBSP Region 10 Conference.
Held on February 27 and 28, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Region 10 Conference 2025 took place in Mumbai, India, drawing participants from 60 countries and territories across South and Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Singapore, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and others. This year's conference welcomed notable leaders from the ACBSP organization, such as Professor Uday Salunkhe – President-elect of ACBSP, and Dr. Jeffrey Alderman – current President and CEO of ACBSP.
With the theme 'Bridges Across Borders: Collaborative Strategies for Academic & Professional Success,' the 2025 ACBSP Region 10 Conference set out to spark insightful discussions, global cooperation, and forward-thinking strategies to shape the future of education and industry.
Dr. Pham Thanh Vinh (FPT Corporation) won the Best of Region award in the scientific research segment. His groundbreaking research topic was 'Determinants of Consumers' Adoption of Energy Efficient Appliances: A Case Study in Vietnam.'
According to Dr. Vinh's research, even though energy-efficient devices bring plenty of advantages, consumers remain reluctant to adopt them. This hesitation often stems from a lack of information or a tendency to focus solely on upfront costs without considering long-term savings. Dr. Pham Thanh Vinh delved into the key factors shaping purchasing decisions, revealing that gender, age, and especially the mindset of favoring immediate spending play a significant role. His findings offer valuable takeaways for businesses and policymakers striving to encourage sustainable consumption.

Sharing his feelings, Dr. Thanh Vinh expressed his immense pride in receiving an award from one of the world's foremost accreditation bodies. He said, "This award holds great personal significance for me. It's a testament to my years of dedication to scientific research. The caliber of this year's entries was undeniably high, but perhaps my advantage lay in the research methodology and tackling a 'hot' topic—sustainability. I also realized that this issue resonates deeply with the host country, India, which may have worked in my favor."
This marks the second year in a row that an FPT University lecturer has secured the coveted Best of Region award at the ACBSP Conference. Back in 2024, Dr. Nguyen Thi Luu, another lecturer in Business Administration at FPT University, also claimed this honor—setting a remarkable record in the history of ACBSP regional conferences.

It serves as a powerful motivator, encouraging both lecturers and students at the university to keep pushing the boundaries in scientific research and innovation, aiming to develop practical solutions that benefit society and the broader community.
