For the second time, Forbes Vietnam has published a list of the 40 most valuable company brands in Vietnam. Accordingly, the total brand values of the 40 companies reached USD5.4 billion, an increase of 20% compared to the 2016 list.

FPT named top 10 valuable firms in Vietnam for two consecutive years. According to the 2017 list, FPT's brand value is USD176.2 million, an increase of more than USD 5 million compared to the previous list.

According to Forbes Vietnam, not only more large enterprises operating for many years and publishing financial data on the list but also firms always innovating and trying to improve themselves contributed to a rise of 20 percent against last year.

In terms of industries, consumer goods producers accounted for an overwhelming number, followed by the group of finance and banking. The group of technology and telecommunication featured three representatives including Viettel (USD 849.6 billion), FPT (USD 176.2 billion) and VNG (USD 36.5 billion).

Forbes Vietnam prepared the list based on using the Forbes assessment measure, which is to calculate the contribution of the brand to a company’s business efficiency. The most valuable brands are those with the largest revenues in the industries they play a key role.

Forbes Vietnam, in coordination with Viet Capital Securities Company, evaluated the firms’ pre-tax earnings, loan interest rates and intangible assets.

The total brand valuation is calculated on each company’s financial statements and stock market data for listed companies, while some non-traded and unlisted companies agreed to provide financial data for the evaluation.

In the first five months of this year, FPT earned VND16,366 billion, up 12% yoy and reaching 103% of the 5-month plan, VND1,166 billion in profit before tax, up 12% yoy and VND 977 billion in profit after tax, up 10% over the same period.
