International Cooperation in Training: An expedient remedy for the shortage of semiconductor workforce

Recently, FPT Jetking organized a launch event for its international Integrated Circuit (IC) Design training program and hosted a seminar themed "Addressing the shortage of labor forces in the semiconductor industry in Ho Chi Minh City. This event marked a significant advancement for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, drawing participation from over 200 attendees.

The event featured notable guests, including Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, the Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Harsh Bharwani, CEO of the Jetking Group, Mr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the University Council at FPT University, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Semiconductor Technology Association, and numerous representatives from organizations and businesses within the semiconductor industry. The launching ceremony is a significant showcase of international collaboration in the realms of education and the semiconductor industry.

The international IC Design program offered by FPT Jetking will emphasize hands-on training, constituting up to 70% of the total study duration. Developed jointly by Jetking India Academy and FPT Education Organization, the program caters to individuals with little to no background in Information Technology or Electricity - Electronics. Upon completing the two-year program at FPT Jetking, students will acquire practical knowledge and skills, fulfilling the demand for high-quality talent in the semiconductor industry for both Vietnamese and global enterprises.In addition to the Launching Ceremony, FPT Jetking also organized a discussion on addressing the shortage of labor forces in the semiconductor industry. The discussion aimed to analyze topics such as "Semiconductor industry - a golden opportunity for Vietnam to take off" and "The current situation of the semiconductor workforce in Vietnam & future business needs". The panel featured influential figures from both the Vietnamese and international semiconductor industry, including Mr. Harsh Bharwani, CEO of Jetking Group; Mr. Nguyen Phuc Vinh, Executive Committee Member of Ho Chi Minh City Semiconductor Technology Association; Mr. Tran Nguyen Thang, Center Head of Quest Global Design Vietnam; and Mr. Nguyen The Hien, Site Director of DreamBig Semiconductor Vietnam.

During the discussion, speakers delved into various approaches for training high-quality professionals and strategies to attract and retain talent in this industry. They particularly emphasized the importance of collaboration between businesses and FPT Jetking as a novel approach to establishing a sustainable supply chain of personnel, thereby fostering the advancement of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. This collaboration not only provides students with opportunities to engage and learn from real-world scenarios but also equips businesses with agile and efficient talents to meet their evolving needs.

During the event, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, the Consul General of India in HCMC, expressed his views: "The collaboration between FPT Education and Jetking Infotrain Limited in India to develop and transfer the curriculum of the IC Design training program represents a strategic initiative aimed at maximizing the expertise of both entities. Let us view this occasion as a catalyst for fostering deeper engagement and cooperation between India and Vietnam. By leveraging our strengths in the information technology sector, we can drive innovation, create employment opportunities, and build a brighter future for the people of both countries."

The event also signified the collaboration between enterprises and FPT Jetking through a signing ceremony aimed at training and recruiting human resources for IC design. It highlighted the robust commitment from all parties toward investing in and developing high-quality personnel for Vietnam's semiconductor industry. Notable organizations and businesses in the semiconductor industry that have partnered with FPT Jetking include Quest Global Design Vietnam, DreamBig Semiconductor Vietnam, IC-FPGA, Gowin Semiconductor, and the Ho Chi Minh City Semiconductor Technology Association.
