Konica Minolta, a subsidiary of the Konica Corporation - Japan, and FPT IS have entered into a partnership agreement to distribute the PACS FINO.VITA solution and integrate it into FPT.eHospital. This collaboration signifies a significant advancement in the digital transformation of the medical industry. Together, they aim to address the challenge of automating medical image storage, management, retrieval, presentation, and distribution, enhancing healthcare quality and optimizing management operations.

FPT IS became the first entity in Vietnam to distribute and implement the Konica PACS solution (FINO.VITA) through this collaboration. Leveraging its position as a leading supplier of Hospital Information System (HIS) solutions in Vietnam with over 20 years of experience, FPT IS takes a pioneering step in integrating PACS and AI technologies to support image-based diagnosis. The solution, provided by Konica Minolta and validated in the Japanese market, will be implemented initially at the first Japanese Hospital in Vietnam, with plans to extend this successful deployment model to other hospitals and medical facilities nationwide.

Konica Corporation is renowned as a digital solutions partner specializing in imaging, data processing, and creating data-driven solutions. With over 2 million customers worldwide, the corporation offers solutions and services across more than 150 countries through its 173 subsidiaries and affiliates. Mong its flagship solutions is PACS FINO.VITA, developed by member company Konica Minolta, which comprises an image archiving system and advanced AI features.

As per FPT IS's and Konica Minolta's cooperation agreement, FPT IS will distribute Konica Minolta's PACS FINO.VITA solution, integrate it into FPT.eHospital, and offer it to existing and new hospital clients. Meanwhile, Konica Minolta pledges to provide comprehensive resource support for pivotal projects, ensuring constant updates and optimization of products in the Vietnamese market.

FPT IS will devise and execute a market expansion strategy for PACS products in Vietnam to capture a significant market share, ensuring alignment and synchronization of the integration and deployment team with FPT.eHospital as a cohesive product suite.

Following integration, the solution set will facilitate the automation of the entire imaging diagnostic process. Additionally, reports will be seamlessly integrated, synchronizing data from PACS to the HIS (on FPT.eHospital) or vice versa.

In Vietnam, the Ministry of Health has been piloting a project to deploy the Medical Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and the Filmless Hospital model since 2015. This initiative has yielded numerous successes, such as Huu Nghi Hospital, which has saved between 55% to 75% of film costs, and Hai Phong International General Hospital, which has reduced medical examination and treatment time by over 40%. Despite these achievements, the adoption of PACS technology remains limited, with only around 21 medical facilities nationwide implementing PACS solutions. Additionally, there is a shortage of technology companies providing PACS solutions that meet the standards set by the Ministry of Health.

"We are proud to be the inaugural technology partner in Vietnam collaborating with Konica Minolta to integrate PACS solutions into FPT.eHospital, both in Vietnam and the international market, to address the digital transformation challenges in the healthcare industry. With considerable market potential, it is projected that by 2027, nearly 1,500 hospitals will adopt PACS solutions. This collaboration aims to assist hospitals in meeting crucial criteria to transition into smart hospitals by eliminating the use of printed film and actively addressing the challenges associated with managing, sharing, and leveraging film data. With the collaboration of Japan's premier PACS implementation partner and FPT IS's 25 years of experience in supporting the healthcare industry, we are confident in achieving success with this project. Together, we aim to address the digital transformation challenges faced by Vietnam-Japan medical organizations," said Mr. Tran Dang Hoa, Chairman of FPT IS.

"While Konica Minolta's PACS and AI have achieved significant success in Japan, establishing a robust sales network and cultivating relationships with medical organizations in Vietnam presents challenges for us in advancing the PACS system and AI technologies in the country. To address these challenges, we have confidence in selecting FPT IS, the premier technology firm with a dominant market share in Vietnam's HIS market. Collaborating with FPT IS not only enables us to deliver top-tier products to numerous healthcare organizations but also adds value through a comprehensive solution for both entities. Through this partnership, we aim to contribute to the future growth and advancement of the Vietnamese's healthcare industry, " said Mr. Shinya Tanaka - Director of Medical Equipment Sales Department - Konica Minolta Japan Company.
