Kien Giang leaders collaborate with FPT on education and digital transformation

On February 20, 2025, a delegation from FPT Corporation met with the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province to exchange ideas, extend well wishes, and discuss proposals to promote investment in education and technology within the province.

During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Chairman of the Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee, highlighted Kien Giang's significant development potential, particularly its strength as a tourism destination, with Phu Quoc as a key attraction. The province is working toward enhancing its value for sustainable development and is considering establishing a university in Phu Quoc.

The Kien Giang provincial government also proposed that FPT expand its educational footprint by opening more high schools and universities with distinct identities to attract international students. Additionally, provincial leaders expressed their hope that Phu Quoc will see further advancements in high technology, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's global competitiveness.

In response, FPT CEO Nguyen Van Khoa reaffirmed the Corporation's commitment to actively supporting the development of Phu Quoc.

"FPT will conduct surveys and plan the establishment of a university in Phu Quoc, including a scientific research center. We hope that FPT University will become a hub for training technological elites and supplying high-quality human resources," affirmed Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa.

According to the FPT CEO, the Corporation also aims to position Phu Quoc as a destination for top technology talents and plans to host international conferences featuring industry-leading experts. Additionally, FPT looks forward to working alongside Kien Giang Province in its digital transformation efforts, transitioning from public administration to public management.

In response to the proposals from the CEO of FPT Corporation, the Chairman of Kien Giang Province expressed the province's interest in developing a high-tech park to attract businesses and foster research and development activities. He highlighted that Kien Giang now offers more favorable living conditions, including an international airport, a diverse network of domestic flights, and strong connectivity to the country's economic hubs. Major tourism corporations and leading Vietnamese companies have also established a presence in Phu Quoc.

"The province strongly encourages FPT to explore the development of a software center and university as the foundation for a high-tech park. We will launch preferential policies and identify prime locations to enable FPT to build a university with 5-star living and learning conditions, delivering exceptional value and international-quality education," affirmed the Chairman of the Kien Giang Provincial People’s Committee.
