Reinforcement Learning Competition is for Vietnamese students and technology engineers who are passionate about artificial intelligence (AI) in Vietnam and Japan. The competition, which takes place from July 15 to September 19, consists of three main rounds. It is simulated in the form of a gold digger game, with a total value of VND500 million.

Reinforcement Learning is one of the three basic types of machine learning. It learns from interaction with the environment to achieve a goal or simply learns from reward and punishments.

A reinforcement learning agent experiments in an environment, taking actions and being rewarded when the correct actions are taken. Over time, the agent learns to take the actions that will maximize its reward. This algorithm is used in complicated games, for example, Reinforcement Learning designed by Google competed against legendary Go player Mr Lee Sedol, the winner of 18 world titles

This is the first large-scale reinforcement learning competition in Vietnam. FPT Software hopes to establish a nationwide community of reinforcement learning as well as contribute to building human resources for Vietnam's AI technology market. The competition offers the technology community and young people an opportunity to learn, do in-depth research and ask the leading experts in this field in Vietnam for advice, and access many attractive career opportunities at FPT Software.

The second prize is worth VND50,000,000, the Third prize is VND20,000,000 and the Consolation prize is worth VND5,000,000.  VND20,000,000 is given to the student winning Talent title and VND10,000,000 to the one winning Promising title.

Special scholars (Introduction To Data Science course or Introduction To Machine Learning course worth VND190,000,000) is given to all members of Top 16 teams. Young AI talent scholars (Data Science or Machine Learning course worth VND20,000,000) are for teams with all members who are students with the highest ranks.

The competition gathers a group of professional advisors and well-known judges in the field such as Founder of FUNiX Online University, Nguyen Thanh Nam; International AI expert, conduct collaborating research with professors of MILA – the world's leading AI research institute, Nguyen Xuan Phong; Founder of CodeLearn Cao Van Viet; Machine Learning Engineer at Google Vu Huu Tiep etc.

In order to build human resources for the Vietnamese technology market, FPT Software has held many technology-related competitions which drew great attention. Earlier, the company held "Codewar 2019", which attracted nearly 4,000 students, 355 teams from 116 colleges, universities and institutes nationwide. In June 2020, FPT Software organized "Codewar Junior 2020" on CodeLearn, attracting nearly 1,000 students from 97 secondary schools and 250 high schools nationwide.
