MIC Vice president of Japan experiences inside autonomous car by FPT

On the occasion of the APEC Week in Da Nang, Mr Masahiko Tominaga, Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan, paid a working visit to FPT Software Danang at FPT Complex on November 10.

During this visit, Mr. Masahiko Tominaga experienced the autonomous car developed by FPT. He moved around FPT Complex in the driverless car that includes some technologies developed by FPT such as auto lane splitting, obstacle-avoidance, and obstruction. He believed in the development of autonomous vehicle technology developed by FPT and expected FPT to continue investing in research and development of automotive technology solutions.

Some representatives of FPT Software Danang introduced the cooperation between FPT and Japanese companies in the IT sector to him, as well as FPT Japan. He thought that there were many potentials for promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Japan. A big corporation like FPT had its own development strategies.

"After 12 years in Japan, FPT Japan has become the largest foreign IT company here. In 2016, FPT Japan earned USD128 million in revenue, up 49% yoy. There are around 1,000 employees working in five offices in Japan, and around 5,000 engineers in Vietnam developing products for the Japanese market," said Director of FPT Software Da Nang Nguyen Tuan Phuong.

On Oct 31st, the first autonomous car in Vietnam developed by FPT Software was introduced in Ho Chi Minh Hi-tech Park. This driver-less car is able to self-navigate, avoid cars from the opposite direction, evade obstacles and re-direct where the roads bend.

FPT has been deploying about 150 technology automotive-related projects for 20 customers in Japan, Korea, Europe and America. FPT is investing heavily in research and development of automotive technology solutions to partner with the world's leading automotive manufacturers.
