MTA Racer from Military Technical Academy wins first at Digital Race

The final of Digital Race - Driverless car which took place on May 10 at Cau Giay Stadium in Hanoi with the participation of 8 teams from Lac Hong University, VNU - University of Engineering and Technology, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Ha Noi University of Science and Technology, FPT University, VNUHCM University of Information Technology, Military Technical Academy and HCM City University of Technology.
The board of organisation equips participating teams with car models, training material on image processing technology and open source libraries.
The teams competed in 2 rounds. In Round 1, 8 teams were divided into 4 pairs. Each pair controlled their vehicles on two racetracks. 4 teams with the highest scores were selected into the second round. In Rounds, the 4 teams competed in pairs and in a straight knockout in order to select two teams into the final.
Self-driving cars are one of the nine pillars of the fourth industrial revolution. A number of technology giants are already rushing to develop their own models. According to McKinsey, cars with smart connectivity and applications will grow at an average rate of 30 per cent over the coming years and will account for 25 per cent of the world’s total number of vehicles by 2020.
Pham Dai Duong, deputy minister of science and technology congratulated 8 teams on their achievements. He thought that such competitions would contribute to the promotion and training of quality human resources of Vietnam to perceive, create and possess benefits brought by the fourth industrial revolution.
FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh told students he believed that with the experience and knowledge they acquired, as well as their passion and determination, they would be pioneers in the global technology value chain, contributing to Vietnam’s development during the fourth industrial revolution and leading the country towards a prosperous future.
The total value of prizes is up to VND 700 million.
- The First worth VND 450 million (including a seven-day trip in America for members and three laptops) was given to MTA Racer from Military Technical Academy.
- The Second worth VND 30 million was awarded to CDIO of HCM City University of Technology.
- Two Third each worth VND 20 million went to Alpha One of FPT University and LHU Racer 304 of Lac Hong University.
