Nearly 10,000 signs up for FPT University

April 20th, 2008 FPT University will hold its 180-minute long entrance examinations in Mathematics, logical thinking, and essay writing. Until now, FPT University have received nearly 10 thousand registrations nationwide. To ensure quality of the enrollment, this year benchmark is expected to be from 55% to 60% of the total score.

FPT University entrance examinations will be held in 3 major cities of Hanoi , Danang, and Hochiminh City . With FPT University ’s official expansion of operation in Danang and Hochiminh City , the number of registrations in these two cities have increased dramatically this year. Preparations for the coming examinations have all been completed.

Registered students may come to the University on the 18th and 19th of April to check their registration code. Students may also check FPT University ’s website at www.fpt.edu.vn for their registration code and test site road instructions. For cases of missing or incomplete registrations, students should come to the University’s Admission Office on April 19th to complete registration procedures.

Maximum score for essay writing is 15 points, for multiple-choice is 90 points. The maximum score for the April 20th examination will be 105. Students who score at least 63 points (approximately 60%) will surely get into the FPT University .

In explanation, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong – Head of the Admission Board, Vice President of FPT University said: “One of our main criteria is non-compromise with quality. Thus, the actual number of students only depend on the quality of the students, not on admission numbers. Most students can predict their results right after the examinations”.

With the aim of helping students better prepare for the coming examination on April 20th, FPT University have posted online a sample examination and testing guide for students’ reference.

According to the Admission Board, the multiple-choice part of the examination will only test students’ logical thinking and their suitability with information technology.

Essay topics will be real life issues requiring basic knowledge in social science suited to students’ age group. Essay topics will not require students to have special knowledge in any fields, all opinions will be respected and highly appreciated if convincingly presented with reasons and logical examples.
