Nearly 4,500 students awarded Violympic 2016-2017

The award ceremony of the Internet-Violympic 2016-2017 for the Northern region was held at Hai Phong City on May 12.

The award ceremony was attended by Ta Ngoc Tri, Deputy Director of Primary Education Department, Ministry of Education, representatives of Education and Training Departments and  Education and Training Committee Divisions, representatives of FPT Corporation, FPT University and Nguyen Thanh Quang, General Deputy Director of Bao Viet Life Insurance the sponsor of the contest and many teachers and students from the northern provinces.

4,485 students won the prizes in English and Vietnamese maths and physics. They included 757 golden medals; 1,493 silver medals; 1,481 bronze medals and 754 consolation prizes.

Aiming to change learning methods for Vietnamese students by encouraging them to be more active in understanding and acquiring knowledge, ViOlympic attracts more and more attention.

In 2016-2017 academic year, over 20 million accounts have been registered via website Violympic covering 737 districts, cities in 63 provinces nationwide.

In the 2016 - 2017 school year, there are many notable highlight of the Violympic such as launching an online Physics contest; running Laolympic - an online mathematics contest for students in Laos and using new technology perform. The organization also offers a variety of services such as online courses, practice tests.

“The contest helps change learning methods for Vietnamese students by encouraging them to use information technologies and offers students an opportunity to exchange and learn from each other,” stated a representative of Baoviet Life Nguyen Thanh Quang.

Launched by FPT Corporation and FPT University, the Violympic contest is held for 1st-12th grade students. In order to reach the national round, they must pass free rounds and rounds at the school, district and provincial levels.

The next honouring ceremony for pupils in the South takes place on May 19 in HCMC.
