On the afternoon of February 25, Mr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the University Council of FPT University under FPT, participated as a speaker at Nikkei Digital Forum in Asia 2026, presenting insights centered on FPT’s educational philosophy.
Nikkei Digital Forum Asia is a high-level dialogue platform on digital transformation, innovation, and sustainable social development, held annually across Asian countries. The forum gathers senior leaders from government agencies, international organizations, and leading corporations from Vietnam, Japan, and the broader region. This year, discussions focused on the drivers of new economic development models and the capabilities of the next generation in advancing innovation through four key themes: digital transformation, startup innovation, design innovation, and next-generation empowerment.
With his presentation titled “FPT University: Innovation and Globalization” and participation in the Next-Gen Empowerment panel, Mr. Le Truong Tung highlighted three major trends shaping 21st-century higher education: massification, globalization, and information technology–driven digital transformation. Based on these trends, he analyzed how FPT University has evolved over the past 20 years, aligning its training strategy with global shifts in education and technology.

Mr. Le Truong Tung speaks at Nikkei Digital Forum Asia 2026.
According to him, FPT University currently operates five campuses nationwide and ranks among Vietnam’s largest universities by student population, offering advanced academic programs and experiential learning activities to enhance practical capabilities. The university also places strong emphasis on globalization: English is an admission requirement; teaching materials and courses are delivered in English; additional foreign languages are offered; international students and faculty are actively recruited; and global academic standards are strictly followed.
In the context of rapid digital transformation and AI adoption, Mr. Tung affirmed that FPT University has proactively adapted by launching short-term programs in digital transformation and AI, developing certification systems and credit transfer mechanisms, implementing hybrid learning models, and promoting Research-Based Learning and Teaching (RBLT).
At the Next-Gen Empowerment panel, Dr. Le Truong Tung joined Professor Akie Iriyama (Waseda University) and Mr. Naotaka Owada (Director of ICT Innovation Research Institute, Nikkei Business Publications) to discuss talent development in the digital era.
Mr. Tung emphasized that while decision-making and making the right decisions are important, the more fundamental objective is to educate learners who can adapt to today’s rapidly changing society. He also shared FPT’s educational philosophy, highlighting the importance for learners to understand themselves, take ownership of their personal development, and be accountable for their actions, while also understanding, engaging with, and taking responsibility for the community and society.
Concluding his presentation and discussion, he noted: “The future may change significantly, but there are core values for individuals, organizations, and nations that must be preserved and continuously developed.”
