AHT – the management and operation unit of Terminal 2 (T2) at Da Nang International Airport – is progressively realizing the smart terminal model to enhance passenger experience, optimize check-in processes, and improve operational efficiency.
100% Automated Check-in Enhancing Passenger Experience
In the context of rapid technological advancement transforming how people travel and connect, Da Nang International Airport continues to affirm its pioneering role by applying modern technological solutions in its operations and passenger services.
The year 2024 marks an important milestone as Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) collaborates with FPT Corporation to implement a smart airport model at Terminal 2, contributing to elevating the experience of international travelers.
Notably, AHT has sponsored automated immigration gates for the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security, to be implemented in two phases. The first four gates were officially handed over and put into operation on March 20, while the remaining four will be completed in the near future.
With this milestone, Da Nang International Airport’s Terminal 2 becomes the first terminal in Vietnam to complete a 100% automated check-in process from initial check-in to boarding the aircraft.

This achievement not only marks a significant step forward in enhancing passenger experience but also demonstrates the airport’s commitment to applying advanced technologies to optimize operations and deliver maximum convenience to travelers.
A representative of Da Nang International Airport’s Terminal 2 shared that the application of technology not only enhances operational efficiency but also brings passengers a smoother journey.
Accordingly, passengers departing from Da Nang International Airport’s Terminal 2 can easily complete check-in procedures using the self-service kiosks, followed by quick baggage drop-off at the self-baggage check-in counters.
Security and immigration checks are also significantly shortened thanks to the automated control gate system, helping reduce waiting time. Finally, passengers can board seamlessly through the automatic boarding gates, minimizing manual procedures and optimizing transit time.
Beyond these upgrades, the airport has also equipped “video call kiosks” and multilingual information screens to help passengers conveniently search for flight details, services, and amenities.
These systems also serve as an important communication channel for the airport to receive customer feedback, ensuring continuous improvement in service quality.
Additionally, an AI-powered camera system has been deployed across check-in areas to measure passenger density in real time, providing live data to the operations team to quickly implement crowd management measures, reduce congestion, and optimize processing time.
Passenger Tran Quoc Thien shared his first experience with the 100% automated check-in process, expressing his surprise: “The fully automated procedures from immigration clearance to baggage drop-off and boarding are very fast. I’ve seen this technology abroad before, but I didn’t expect Vietnam to achieve it so soon,” he said.
