02/03/2026

FPT Corporation has officially announced a senior technology leadership appointment. Effective March 1, 2026, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong – Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer of FPT Software, FPT Corporation – has been appointed Chief Technology Officer of FPT Corporation. Mr. Vu Anh Tu will step down from the role of Chief Technology Officer of FPT Corporation to focus on his position as Managing Director of FPT UAV, FPT Corporation.

The decision comes as FPT Corporation accelerates investment in strategic technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), quantum technology, railway technology, and cybersecurity. Under its long-term strategy, FPT Corporation has identified mastery of core technologies as the foundation for strengthening national technological autonomy and contributing to the realization of major national orientations under Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW.

As Chief Technology Officer of FPT Corporation, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong will be responsible for shaping the overall technology architecture and ecosystem of FPT Corporation, with a strong focus on AI-driven transformation.

With extensive experience across global research ecosystems and advanced technology development, Mr. Phong will concentrate on building specialized AI research capabilities, strengthening foundational technology platforms, accelerating strategic R&D initiatives, and creating new business directions aligned with FPT Corporation’s long-term growth strategy.

Born in 1989, Mr. Phong represents a new generation of ambitious and forward-looking technology leaders within FPT Corporation. He holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Tokyo (Japan) and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University (United States).

At the age of 24, he was recognized among the Top 50 Outstanding Young Scientists of Hitachi (Japan). In 2024, he became the first and only Vietnamese individual to be honored in Constellation Research’s global AI150 ranking, alongside globally renowned figures such as Yann LeCun.

Prior to his appointment as Chief Technology Officer of FPT Corporation, Mr. Phong served as Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer of FPT Software, where he laid the foundation for FPT’s AI strategy and expanded AI solutions into international markets. He played a central role in establishing strategic partnerships with leading global AI organizations, including NVIDIA, Mila, Landing AI, AI Fund, and Aitomatic, enabling FPT engineers to collaborate directly with world-class AI pioneers such as Andrew Ng and Yoshua Bengio.

Notably, he was instrumental in positioning FPT as a founding member of the AI Alliance initiated by IBM and Meta, reinforcing the presence of a Vietnamese enterprise within the global AI ecosystem.

Under his technical leadership, FPT Corporation was granted five international AI patents by some of the most rigorous innovation authorities in the United States and Japan. These patents marked significant advancements in core technologies, including AI for Software Engineering, AI for 3D Point-Cloud Vision, and sound-based AI for industrial operations.

FPT Corporation was also ranked among the Top 50 global AI labs by IDC, reflecting strong international recognition of its technological capabilities. AI solutions developed under Mr. Phong’s leadership — spanning AI for Software, Industrial AI, and Operational AI — have been deployed across markets including Japan, Europe, and the United States. IvyChat, a customer conversational AI solution, was recognized as a Leader — the highest position — in the IDC MarketScape 2025 report for AI-enabled customer communication software in Asia Pacific.

During his tenure as Chief Technology Officer of FPT Corporation (September 2020 – March 2026), Mr. Vu Anh Tu directly led and coordinated FPT Corporation’s strategic technology pillars, including AI, semiconductor chips, cloud computing, big data, and IoT.

Under his leadership, FPT Corporation implemented a comprehensive AI transformation program, spanning internal operations and global product and service development. He spearheaded the development of a public cloud ecosystem, positioning FPT as one of Vietnam’s leading cloud service providers, while also advancing private cloud solutions tailored to ISP-grade standards, achieving a resource conversion rate of 77.5%.

Internally, more than 200 systems were migrated to FPT’s internal cloud platform to optimize operational efficiency and resource utilization. He also guided the development of FPT Sovereign Cloud, aimed at building sovereign cloud and AI capabilities to meet national digital infrastructure demands.

Mr. Tu played a key role in supporting government agencies and financial institutions in large-scale digital transformation and cybersecurity programs, while driving the expansion of the “Made by FPT” product ecosystem serving tens of millions of users. He also oversaw the development of a unified digital identity system with 10 million authenticated subscribers and led the construction of a hyperscale data center serving as foundational infrastructure for AI, big data, and strategic digital services.

In his new role as Managing Director of FPT UAV, FPT Corporation, Mr. Vu Anh Tu will focus on developing UAV technology — one of FPT Corporation’s five strategic technology directions for the next phase, including UAV, Quantum AI, Railway Technology, Data, and Cybersecurity.

The UAV sector aligns with the rapidly growing global low-altitude economy. According to Markets & Markets and PwC, the global UAV market is projected to reach USD 128 billion by 2030 and potentially expand to USD 700 billion by 2035. In Vietnam, the low-altitude economy is forecast to generate USD 10 billion in value and create approximately one million jobs over the next decade.
