FPT Corporation and Hanoi Medical University Hospital Hand Over 45 Automated External Defibrillators to Support Da Nang’s Pre-hospital Emergency Response Capacity

11/12/2025

Da Nang, December 11 – FPT Corporation, in collaboration with Hanoi Medical University Hospital, held a handover ceremony for 45 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to 13 regional medical centers across Da Nang, contributing to strengthening community-based first-response capacity and supporting the implementation of the city’s Pre-hospital Emergency Care Development Program for the 2025–2030 period, with a vision to 2045.

The 13 regional medical centers receiving AEDs in this phase include: Son Tra, Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Ngu Hanh Son, Dien Ban, Duy Xuyen, Tam Ky, Thang Binh, Tien Phuoc, Hoi An, Cam Le, Hoa Vang, and Lien Chieu.

Representatives of 13 regional medical centers in Da Nang sign the handover minutes for the Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, highly appreciated the close partnership between FPT Corporation and Hanoi Medical University Hospital in supporting the city with modern medical equipment, the AED Mapping system, and professional training programs on the proper and effective use of the devices.

“This initiative goes beyond the provision of medical equipment. It represents a strategic effort aligned with the goal of improving community-based first aid and strengthening response capabilities in cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest—where every second can determine life or death,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.

In the context of Da Nang’s recent administrative expansion—encompassing coastal areas, plains, midlands, mountainous regions, and islands—the demand for a comprehensive, modern, and well-coordinated pre-hospital emergency system has become increasingly complex and urgent.

The Vice Chairwoman assigned the Department of Health to continue closely coordinating with FPT Corporation, Hanoi Medical University Hospital, and relevant units to ensure the effective management, operation, and utilization of the donated equipment. At the same time, the city will accelerate the expansion of AED deployment at public spaces, tourist destinations, educational institutions, and sports facilities, gradually forming a “cardiac safety zone” across Da Nang.

Da Nang will continue to prioritize investments in infrastructure, human resources, and digital technology to modernize its pre-hospital emergency system, enhance community first-aid training, and develop an intelligent dispatch and coordination system. These are critical conditions for minimizing patient access time and building a more humane, efficient, and modern emergency response system.

Ms. Nguyen Xuan Tu, Executive Director of the Hope Foundation (FPT Corporation), noted that Da Nang is a pioneering locality in adopting, piloting, and systematically deploying AEDs:

“Da Nang is widely recognized as a leader in digital transformation, with a dynamic healthcare system and effective coordination mechanisms among authorities, hospitals, and the community. These conditions enable AED initiatives to be implemented quickly, standardized effectively, and developed into a model for other localities nationwide. We believe Da Nang is the right starting point for scaling this program across Vietnam.”

Ms. Nguyen Xuan Tu, Executive Director of the Hope Foundation, FPT Corporation, speaks at the event.

According to Dr. Tran Thanh Thuy, MD, PhD, Director of the Da Nang Department of Health, assigning regional medical centers to manage and allocate AEDs will help establish a scientifically structured, synchronized, and closely monitored early-response emergency network—gradually strengthening the most critical initial stages of cardiac arrest response.

The AED Mapping system, developed by the Institute of Medical Technology Applications (IMT), plays a vital role in enabling residents, pre-hospital emergency responders, and authorities to quickly locate the nearest AED, significantly reducing response time in emergency situations.

Experts provide hands-on guidance on AED usage.

“According to international guidelines, early defibrillation within the first 3 to 5 minutes using an AED can increase survival rates to 50–70%. This highlights the critical importance of equipping AEDs at local health stations, especially in areas far from hospitals or densely populated zones where emergency response times remain challenging,” Dr. Tran Thanh Thuy stated.

The Department of Health has instructed all units to review and appropriately designate AED placement locations, standardize operational procedures, ensure proper training and support for healthcare staff, and coordinate with functional forces such as police, military, civil defense units, as well as the broader community—ensuring that AED usage is safe, effective, and widely accessible.
