Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Commends FPT Japan’s AI Strategic Direction

From April 27 to 29, FPT Japan and the Vietnam Digital Transformation Association in Japan (VADX Japan) participated in Sushi Tech Tokyo 2026, an international technology event held at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.

Sushi Tech Tokyo 2026 brought together technologies, solutions, and sustainable development initiatives from multiple countries, aiming to explore new models to address future urban challenges through technology.

This year, FPT Japan and VADX Japan hosted a joint exhibition booth, showcasing their activities and technology solutions while engaging with visitors and Japanese partners.

On the opening day, the booth welcomed Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh, and their delegation for visits and discussions.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh expressed strong interest in and appreciation for FPT Japan’s strategic direction in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly its efforts to build AI capabilities in the Japanese market through the FPT AI Factory ecosystem. This platform, developed by FPT, provides AI computing infrastructure, GPU cloud services, model development tools, and generative AI solutions for enterprises, contributing to the acceleration of AI adoption in Japan.

Previously, FPT launched FPT AI Factory in Japan based on NVIDIA technology and expanded partnerships with strategic partners such as Sumitomo Corporation and SBI Holdings to promote AI, cloud, and the “Sovereign AI” model in the market.

The Deputy Minister also emphasized the goal of expanding international cooperation and developing Vietnam’s digital transformation market in Japan, noting that stronger business connectivity between the two countries plays a crucial role in advancing science and technology collaboration.

At a panel discussion during the event, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh shared Vietnam’s target of achieving annual GDP growth of 10% or higher through 2030, with science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation identified as key growth drivers.

He also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation with Japanese investment funds and partners to foster innovation ecosystems, creating more opportunities for Vietnamese technology companies to integrate deeper into global value chains.

The Ministry of Science and Technology affirmed it will continue supporting bilateral cooperation activities and welcomes Japanese and international partners to expand collaboration and investment in Vietnam’s digital transformation market.

From the business perspective, Mr. Do Van Khac, CEO of FPT Japan, noted that in 2025, the unit contributed approximately 45% of the Group’s global revenue. He reaffirmed FPT Japan’s commitment to working alongside Japanese partners to address workforce shortages and social challenges in a sustainable manner.

According to FPT Japan, Sushi Tech Tokyo 2026 serves as an important platform to strengthen connections and expand partnerships with Japanese enterprises and investment funds, thereby promoting bilateral cooperation, advancing the application of new technologies, and expanding market opportunities between Vietnam and Japan.
