The event represents a significant milestone in the center’s development journey, affirming that its technical design documentation meets the strictest global criteria for reliability, availability, and fault tolerance required of a Tier IV Data Center.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Director of the National Data Center, emphasized that achieving this certification required the data center’s design to undergo rigorous evaluation and meet numerous complex technical standards. These include complete fault tolerance, dual redundancy systems with additional backup components, and the ability to perform maintenance without service interruption while remaining resilient to unexpected failures. He added that obtaining the Tier IV certification at the design stage not only reflects the unit’s capability for strategic thinking and systematic project execution but also demonstrates its strong commitment to building a data center meeting the highest operational standards.

Mr. Patrick Chan, Vice President for Asia at Uptime Institute, stated: “This is the first data center in Vietnam to achieve the Uptime Tier IV Design Certification. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the National Data Center through our partner, HME, as there are three essential pillars that ensure the reliability and resilience of a data center - Facility, Operations, and Cybersecurity.”

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, CEO of FPT IS, a member company of FPT Corporation, remarked that the National Data Center’s achievement of the Uptime Tier IV Design Certification is not only a technical milestone but also a strategic advancement affirming Vietnam’s digital infrastructure capabilities, strengthening data sovereignty, and promoting sustainable digital economic growth.

In this project, the consortium of FPT, Aurecon, and TwoG was entrusted by the National Data Center to serve as consulting and implementation partners. FPT representatives reaffirmed their commitment to closely accompanying the National Data Center, adhering to all project requirements and objectives, and addressing critical data development issues—ensuring compliance with the criteria of “accuracy, adequacy, integrity, vitality, unity, and shared use.”

Mr. Minh further noted that achieving the Uptime Tier IV Design Certification demonstrates that the National Data Center has attained the highest level of infrastructure redundancy, capable of maintaining continuous and stable operation even during technical failures or maintenance periods. This level of reliability is vital for critical systems such as finance, telecommunications, government, and defense.

From a digital governance and data security perspective, this certification helps reduce dependence on foreign infrastructure, enhance digital sovereignty, and meet stringent cybersecurity requirements—ensuring the protection of citizen data and national databases. From now on, Vietnam possesses a national data center built to world-class standards, standing alongside leading global facilities such as NEXTDC Data Center (Australia) and Switch SUPERNAP Data Center (United States).
