FPT University Officially Launches Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Major (UAV and Humanoid Track)

22/05/2026

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics increasingly become pillars of the next industrial revolution, FPT University officially launched the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence major (UAV and Humanoid track) under its Information Technology program in 2026. The program is designed to develop high-quality talent with deep expertise in Robotics and AI, equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge and the ability to develop and apply intelligent robotics and AI solutions in real-world contexts.

According to the 2024 IT workforce market report by ITviec/VietnamWorks, hiring demand for engineering roles related to AI and robotics increased by as much as 67%, with strong momentum expected to continue throughout 2025–2026 due to growing investments in smart factories, UAVs, humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, and related technologies. Demand for AI talent is also forecast to rise significantly in the coming years.

The Robotics and Artificial Intelligence major (UAV and Humanoid track) at FPT University is designed around a learning model that integrates academic foundations, technological capabilities, and hands-on industry experience. The curriculum equips students with specialized knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies needed to participate in rapidly evolving sectors such as UAVs, humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, and industrial robotics.

A key highlight of the program is its On-the-job Training (OJT) semester, which is positioned relatively early in the learning journey. This allows students to gain early exposure to real working environments, better understand the characteristics of their field, and identify the specialization they wish to pursue. Following this experience, students return to campus with clearer learning goals, improved course selection capabilities, and stronger alignment between career development and practical industry needs.

The curriculum has been developed through consultation with enterprises, experts, and professional organizations while integrating technical and safety standards relevant to the discipline, including UAV flight safety, human-robot interaction safety, and industrial robot operation safety. This ensures close alignment between academic training and labor market requirements.

One of the program’s distinguishing features is its focus on cutting-edge technological pathways. The first is UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), which focuses on aircraft design, flight control, embedded systems, and UAV applications. The second is Humanoid Robotics, emphasizing the development of robotic systems capable of interaction and human behavior simulation.

In addition, students have opportunities to explore other areas such as industrial robotics, autonomous vehicles, and automation systems through specialized courses and advanced projects. This multidisciplinary approach enables learners not only to excel in a single area but also to adapt flexibly to multiple career roles in the Industry 4.0 era.

Students enrolled in this program also benefit from FPT Corporation’s technology ecosystem, including FPT Automotive, FPT UAV, and FPT Software. Throughout their studies, students gain opportunities to participate in projects involving autonomous vehicles, UAVs, and smart factory technologies.

Notably, the program follows an “AI-first” approach, treating artificial intelligence as the core value of technological products rather than focusing solely on mechanical engineering. The entire curriculum is delivered in English and integrates internationally recognized technology certifications, preparing students for global workforce opportunities.

In line with its international orientation, the program strongly emphasizes foreign language development to support both academic and professional activities in global environments. Students are expected to achieve English proficiency equivalent to Level 4 of Vietnam’s six-level foreign language framework (approximately IELTS 6.0). Additionally, students learn Japanese as a second foreign language, providing additional advantages for international study and career opportunities.

Graduates with strong academic foundations may pursue a variety of career paths, including Robotics Engineer, UAV & Drone AI Engineer, Autonomous Robot Engineer (AGV/ARM), and AI & Robotics Engineer. Students may also become Automation and Control Engineers or pursue advanced research and teaching careers in AI and robotics.

Career opportunities are not only diverse but also highly competitive in terms of compensation. Fresh graduates can expect salaries ranging from VND 18–30 million per month, mid-level engineers may earn VND 50–85 million per month, while senior specialists can exceed VND 125 million per month. These figures reflect the growing attractiveness of the field amid accelerating digital transformation and automation.

The launch of the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence major (UAV and Humanoid track) marks not only an expansion of FPT University’s academic offerings but also demonstrates the university’s commitment to anticipating technology trends and workforce demands.

Building on its information technology foundation, FPT University continues evolving toward a multidisciplinary applied university model and expanding its educational ecosystem around the pillars of Technology – Entrepreneurship – Globalization, with technology serving as the central driver in developing human resources for the digital era.
